BILL, BST did a article on their site that was up for 6 years about my crash with a set of BST's. Everyone claims their for racing only, but they are not. I hit a curb square at 80mph, a 10 inch curb and the bike flew up into the air.and came down and both tires held air... They are more safe than aluminum by far. Stephano has his data correct. I own both type of optional wheels, I run Oz on the track for the heat purpose and run BST on the street... End of story... GO MOTO WHEELS!!! Stephano has his data correct. By the way, the the BST's that hit the curb, are still on the bike and on the street.

BST never disappoints; great craftmanship, great looks! Personally, I believe the stock forged wheels are good enough for 99% of riders. The Streetfighter already handles so well, it's hard to imagine there's a great need for improvement. I would rather invest that money into a full titanium Akra system. Those ceramic bearings do look tempting. Let us know how all the modifications perform out on the road! Can you notice a difference? Thanks for sharing! :)

My point of view..... front wheel carbon all the way because if it wobbles....(steering) it will 'come back' a lot easier than something heavier. .....Rear wheel forged .......slightly heavier on the outside because it always runs true and creates more of a straight line inertia!!!
@joeambartsumyan725910 ай бұрын
Ceramic bearings on a Ducati are a waste of money. The rear hub bearings are going to negate any benefit. If you went ceramic front and back then sure, it’s less friction and drag but only ceramic in the front is a total waste of money because your rest hub bearings are the limiting factor.
@EyeofaMadman4 жыл бұрын
Dont get those ceramic bearings wet, its bad news. Great for the track though...
@EyeofaMadman4 жыл бұрын
@@kastriotrabushaj3709 Let me begin by saying, as I have a background in Engineering, but this is my opinion based on data received or whitepaper data. The main argument between steel vs ceramic is faster and less friction and smoother than steal. After all, we spin a wheel with ceramic bearings and it rolls forever vs a steel bearing installed, visually you would say, yes, less friction, as you see it spin 3.5 minutes vs steel bearings at 1.5min(on the flawed spin test without any load) Most Ceramic bearings are made with a composite cage around ceramic balls with an inner and outer race in steel, then rubber seals covering them from the elements and keeping lubrication in the bearing, grease(steel) or just oil(ceramic). Ceramic Bearings are made like the steel bearings, but they are: 1. LIGHTER 2. MORE ROUND 3. STRONGER THAN A STEEL BEARING 4. RESISTANCE IS LESS All sounds good till you ad water to this equation... If your racing, or an avid track brat like myself, checking ceramic bearings could be done easily. Moreover, a race team does every day. In race elements IF PROPERLY MAINTANED, they COULD be better but the costs vs work effort vs failure must be weighed by the rider or team involved. Here is why Ceramic bearings are hard than steel, so a pothole or a heavy bump actually dents the steel races inside the bearing, hence a race track has no potholes, no problem then. Street? Oh boy, not a track. Ceramic bearings that use grease actually perform worse because the lightness allows for the balls to skid under accel or decel situations instead of rolling like a greased steel bearing would. Also the tightness of a steel bearing for the load applied actually spins better for longer duration over the Ceramic bearing. I know, we both know that you can visually see the ceramic spun for 2 minutes longer than the steel. Of course it does, there is more play and in short time, that play increases, now add some rain to the race track and all your oil in the bearings heats up and leaks out leaving DRY BEARINGS. If it got it wet, like described, well, there is debris in there now, and with harder than steel ceramic balls and the debris rolling over a steel race either being dented and deforming the race or being scratched by the bearing in a skid situation. After a lap, or a ride home from work, you have a ceramic bearing, no lubrication, grinding debris, and races that are dented and scratched. When tested against the best steel bearings, the costs was still over 400% the cost of the steel. They cost more, they need to looked at every time it comes off the bike and certain conditions may require for them to come out just for inspection. Any wet conditions, including washing your bike could inhibit performance and or be life threatening if left unmaintained. The gains are less then 2% in efficiency, some weight savings but only the bearing balls are ceramic so not much savings. and hundreds of dollars vs 50 bucks. Every time you hit water, or even on a hot day, oil can leak so easily in that area that the extra minimal gain is not worth the stress of running ceramic bearings vs a good steel bearing without any worries. Steel please. I only covered a small portion of all the data collected. I kept is short, lol. just, to cover the points of interest based on your question. You can take that or leave it... Bikes are the individualists dream. I do my bikes for me and you do your bikes for you. Everyone has opinions and mine can change when new facts have to be considered. My feelings wont be hurt if you say im crazy , no biggie. But thats why I made the comment. For me.... Once again, Steel please!
