Ive heard the transmission is bad but is it really bad? Like you can’t use it bad? I would buy this car for small trips to and from college and work. Would that be ok?

May I ask, what is the experience with this transmission when you need to move from uphill stop ? How does the car react in that short moment between releasing the brake and pressing accelerator ? Does it move a bit backwards (downhill) before going forward ?

When the brake is released the car start to move.

All Fiat 500s (even manuals) are fitted with downhill assist. After you release the brake pedal on a steep hill the system doesn’t let the car roll backwards for 3 seconds, so you have enough time to step on the gas pedal and start accelerating.

@@behindthewheel6947 it doesn't, I drove exact same car in Panek Carsharing and contrary to all automatic transmission cars in their fleet, Fiat 500 needs to have the accelerator pressed for it to move forward/backwards. Releasing a brake doesn't do anything besides releasing a brake.

It's quite okay. There is more space inside than you might think - at least for the driver. I have some problem with the automatic gearbox that slightly jerks while changing the gear.

I have the same car with the same gearbox. Did you hear some ticking noise on the changes of gears (down and up)? The local dealer here said that is normal but for me the gearbox is not very good at all

yea, the gearbox is the worst part of this car. It makes noise and you never know when the gear will change. Especially during strong acceleration.

you probably found out already but, you have to go off the accelerator paddel when you think the car will change gears. It's a bad transmission form called automated transmission. There is still a clutch but it gets "pressed" by the car itself. But it's cheap to make that's why it's in there and cars like the Volkswagen Up! In the USA you got a normal 6-Speed automatic transmission. But that was only combined to the 1.4l Mulitair engine.

I bought a used Fiat 500L 2016 Hatchback yesterday for £12000. Oh my god its so hard to reverse, I can only drive automatic and the car just rolls front even when the reverse gear is on 😭😭😭😭
