2020 Titan Machinery Geringhoff Rotodisc corn head walk-around video: Preseason checklist. This video is intended for Geringhoff corn head owners who are looking for a checklist of points to check before starting the season. Our Titan Machinery veteran service tech starts with the gearbox on the side of the header - inspecting input and output seals along with the driveline that connects the top and bottom gearboxes . Heath also provides the correct type and weight of oil to use for all the gearboxes on the head. Next, our service tech covers the gathering chain mechanism, how to offset the cogs on the chain, and the drive sprockets. The video then addresses the hydraulic deck plates and how to ensure they are correctly set and free to move before harvest. Then Heath points out the importance of ensuring that the ear savers attached to the corn head snouts are in proper shape to minimize seed and ear loss during harvest. After addressing the auger drive chain, the video then moves to the knives. Starting with the knife rolls, Heath goes in-depth on the different settings and what to look for in regards to wear and the different types of knives (hardened versus regular) and where they go on the knife rolls. He finishes the knife discussion by discussing how to shim the knives on the knife roll to the proper distance from the stalk roll. Then the video moves to inspecting the rubber couplers that hook the row units to the driveline. Lastly, Heath covers how to check the stalk roll bearings and inspect the header height sensor wiring and feelers.
