UOSocal It just came in a few days ago and now I got my first ride in, Doesn’t feel like a 29er, it feels great. Climbing is great as well as descending, pretty much feels like how you reviewed it.

What a beautiful bike. I love it! How was the NX working out for you? My trail bike has NX and has worked very well for me. cool video. The helmet cam was a trip. I really enjoyed the enthusiasm and positivity...nice,

The NX was working great. I currently have a GX on my bike, and I love it. Both are great systems.

You really like the new Giant Reign 29!!? I'm still slightly sad the one i had ordered never came because of the US Tariff bologna... Surprised you actually got to test one! I went with the Mega instead because i fell in love with it on my test rides in Santa Cruz and on my Local home trails, but i was between the Ripmo, Mega, Reign29, Firebird29 or the Yeti SB 150. All in all It's nice to see you stoked on this bike being that you have the older model like I did. I'll have to give one a try soon just for fun! Good job with the video introduction & edit. 👌🏼

This bike is sooo good. Check out Giant's website to see if the demo tour will be anywhere near you. They're in my area this week still, and I'm going to go ride it again.

Great review! You got me interested in one now. I met a guy in aliso that swapped out his front fork for a 29er fork. Now he has a mullet reign. That might be another alternative but I doubt it would ride as good as the 29er
@uosocal5 жыл бұрын
When you do that, you shorten your front fork travel and throw off all the geometry. This new bike is incredible. I will own one by the end of the year.
@stephendpersaud5 жыл бұрын
Are you going to sell your old reign or keep it?
@uosocal5 жыл бұрын
@@stephendpersaud going to keep it. The resale market is ridiculous.

I just put a 28 tooth on my reign. The climbing still sucked but for the first time I made up cholla and I kept up with a guy in better shape than me on ripmo going up mathis. Even though it still didn't feel good climbing I'm able to climb better. I got the idea from you. Thanks.

Hey man nice vid. I'm considering this Reign over the 2020 Trance Advanced 1 carbon (chameleon blue). But I'm a big fan of the rapid nature of 27.5. Also curious if I could buy this new Reign and put 27.5 wheels on it. I'm not sure if it would effect the geometry at all knowing that the Giant team designed the new Reign around 29" wheels. I know I'd be upgrading the fork and shock as well as going with more travel to compensate for the reduction of wheel size. I've also been drooling over the Canyon Torque CF 9.0. That's definitely a top option on my list. There's a Canyon showroom location in Carlsbad in which bikes can be taken for a demo free of charge. What do you think of the new Torque CF? Have you ridden it?
@uosocal4 жыл бұрын
The Reign 29 feels just as quick and nimble as a 27.5 bike. I wouldn't put 27.5 on it, bb might be too low. I rode the 2019 Torque. Reviewed it last year. Very fun ride, but not great uphill. Not sure about the 2020.

I can’t decide on this and the Trance! Did you weigh this bike? I am curious how it compares to the weight of the Trance. On a side note, I don’t know how easy it will be change the shock out as it’s 147mm and not a common length!
@uosocal5 жыл бұрын
This bike will definitely weigh more. The Trance is a trail bike, and not built as tough. I would buy ths model 1 for $5000. A lot of great upgrades.
@timorutishauser37665 жыл бұрын
146mm. I know it has a 60mm stroke which is super common...
@bbqcrew15 жыл бұрын
I have both the trance and the reign in 29 pro 1. About 0.7kg weight difference. Not as much difference as I expected until you get to chunky stuff, drops and jumps... then the reign is a lot more stable. Climbing is a bit harder on the reign
@ludoms1004 жыл бұрын
What about the rear travel? Heard it was 146mm only, I just ordered mine coming from a trance 2 so I’m wondering if that advanced 29 2 will feel more plush or not
@uosocal4 жыл бұрын
Yes, its 146mm of travel. I may have said 150. It feels great. Never even noticed it.

I'm about 5'7" and the trails that i'm riding are very tight and twisty...mostly downhill. Do you recommend 29er or go with the 27.5 for the agility?
@uosocal4 жыл бұрын
Most of the 29ers I've ridden aren't as agile in the twisty stuff. They are faster in most other places. 27.5 are almost always very agile. But, little slower in the rocky, gnar garden kind of trails. Just ride the HD5, and it was really good. Climbing and DH. Video will be out next week.

This bike is on my short list. I'm wanting more travel ride about 4 year old Santa Cruz 130/120. I'm 5'11" but only 31 inseams. My dealers has to order one. I'm kind of between M and L. I see the reach is really long and the stand over would be ouch close on the Large.
@uosocal4 жыл бұрын
The smaller frame will feel more nimble, and a larger frame will be more stable.

@Wes Simpson, I'm 6' and ride a m trance and it's perfect for me. I will probably go with a M when I order this one too. Hope that helps

I’m looking to purchase my first dual suspension bike and this bike is on the top of my list... how do you think it would go riding on the road? (to and from trail heads)
@uosocal4 жыл бұрын
It will be fine. I've ridden my Reign from my house to HB pier sever times. About 20 miles. It was fine.
@jankesdh874 жыл бұрын
Brad257 Well if you told me that I’d be doing 60km rides to get to location few months ago I’d laugh. Well since we’ve got the lock down I was forced to pedal to my closest spots and it’s absolutely fine man. Much better than my 2017 Reign SX I had. I’m on Reign SX 29er and it’s awesome, can’t get enough of it'

I've had one of these for just on a year now. There's a few things that haven't quite made it through the journey but all in all, it's a great bike. It's only getting better as I've upgraded the parts that haven't made it. I do ride every day, so I am going to have to replace things as they wear from daily use anyway. I haven't replaced the rear shock, but I've messed around with tokens etc and I'm not sure if I need to change it.
