Anything on the water drinks a lot of gas. Engines have to work extremely hard to overcome the resistance of water.

This is incorrect, Yamaha states in the owners manual that to flush the ski after use you start the motor before installing the hose to flush the ski. This amount of time run out of water will in no way damage your pwc
