@@mickeyromeo but it's not an all in strategy. He's still making scv's and macro behind the two rax. It just feels like a really smart way to play the match up. it so tough to beat Zerg if you let them drone up and spread creep everywhere, so you constantly harass them and put pressure ASAP so they need to use larva for their army instead of mass drones.

It's ironic that his name is Innovation, because he's probably among the least innovative pro Terrans. I admire his machine-like efficiency and godlike micro, but he does roughly the same thing every game--harass while massing, then attack. Probably my favorite style, but it's not exactly creative.

Innovation did so good here because he was able to combine Maru's build style with his already strong mechanical play. What people usually critize Inno is his builds are usually too standard and predictable. Now we are seeing him using his mechanical skill to do bunker rush and take early advantage over opponents. I believe Inno + Maru build style is equal to Maru's level because both of them have equally impressive mechanical skills.

rogue was the one cheesing here, refusing to build any army. proxy is just an opening, scarlett was actually trying to fight back after taking damage. rogue was inflexible and betting on Innovation not pushing, even though he pushed out at 1-1 every time as expected

I wouldn't call bunker rush "cheese" because you can retreat and continue macro play after this without much of commitment. Maru populated 2 rack proxy back in 2018 and, after two years, it's almost a standard Terran opening now. Scarlett's two games are really cheesy! But I like she doesn't stand a chance in macro play so she took her risk and earned it. Chessy is part of the game and there's no "no rush until 7 minute mark" rule in this game.

@@vincentdesun okay fair enough, proxy two Rex is not as cheesy and all-in as scarlets builds but I would still consider it as cheese. Player in the gsl just had to become mutch better in dealing with it because of maru literally winning the tournament back to back to back. The strat is a gamble to gain an edge but if you fail you're falling behind significantly. Especially Innovation executing it twice was cheesy af. it's like SOS playing a standard macro game x) I'm with you on the "cheese is part of the game" part tho.
