The bottom line is Ford has already engineered the air intake to flow the necessary air for that specific engine. If you feel compelled to throw money away on a CAI and gain 2 or 3 HP if that, to each his own.
@wileecoyote57494 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm sure they did most they could to that motor/trans to brag about 760HP. You'll gain 2 hp with bolt on but maybe something else is sacrificed.
@400hpmustang4 жыл бұрын
@I_AM_THE_NET No I do not but that's irrelevant, all 4 cycle engine share the same thread, intake, compresion, power, exhaust. Regardless if it's a Lamborghini 12 cylinder engine or a 2.2 liter Toyota. The engine is only going to consume as much air as needed, dictated by the lift and duration of the camshafts. So spending $500 or so on an aftermarket air intake (CAI) is money thrown away. You would get better results from subtracting 100 pounds off your car and would cost you nothing but a little time. The gains made here on this Predator engine was from tweaking parameters. I'm willing to bet this engine could make 1000 hp with the factory CAI.
@PalmBeachDyno4 жыл бұрын
You are overlooking the addition to boost. At stock boost levels, the stock air let system is adequate and was designed as such. It remains to be seen if any upgrades there will yield results at higher boost. Based on every other combination in the past, it will require a larger throttle body, inlet porting and larger CAI/filter combo to perform at the maximum capability of this supercharger. We are talking 1000+ hp. At stock boost level, I agree, it's' not needed.

What is the 'drivetrain loss' on the DCT in your experience? I've heard it's lower, but I can't imagine it's anywhere outside of 10-15%, just because it shifts faster... still certainly has a loss somewhere.

@iantaylor954 жыл бұрын
Depends if you have deep pockets, if you don't mind having just a gt and doing what you want to it then a 5.0 would be perfect. If you want specifically a shelby and don't mind paying (mainly) for ingenuity and want power right out if the box then this is the car for you. You can find gt350's for around half the price of this car and you get a manual

Take the top of the air filter canister off as I heard that in Lund's test gave them a lb of boost and a extra 25-30hp bot more or less that would kinda simulate the ram air effect on the filter box at speed is what they we're saying and makes some sense.
@PalmBeachDyno4 жыл бұрын
That is only for dyno numbers which we aren't interested in. I try to test the car under real world conditions.
@gregwilliams43804 жыл бұрын
@@PalmBeachDyno wouldn't real world conditions be that the car is forcing air into that air box at any speed past 30mph and much more at 120mph. So taking off the top doesn't add the wind but gives the car more area to pull from because it doesn't have any fresh air being pushed in on the dyno. Just a opinion

Hi Ken. Your advice please. I have a 2018 Gen 3 Mustang GT Premium PP. I am about to put a supercharger on and I live in Australia where I am extremely handicapped cause people still see them as race cars and not a lovely street ride. Anyway you featured a Roush R2650 a little while ago. I have done some research and have nothing positive from anyone. I believe they are meant to put out about 700 flywheel horse and a equally high torque level. Everyone has told me I will see the 700 horse once and then it will overheat, once hot timing gets pulled so far only delivers a little more than the n/a car. It is a 10r80 and I want to know if I just put the standard Roush calibration tune in will it give me 700 hp all day long. I spoke with Lund’s Alex and I know that he can be some what controversial in his opinions but he said they are useless. The only other I have access to is the new stage 2 upside down Whipple which is much more expensive but I don’t want something useless. He told me to buy any other blower than a Roush since they changed to work with the port and direct injection and Lund have made a policy that they will not work on the R2650. HELP PLEASE KEN.
@PalmBeachDyno4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say they are useless but certainly the least desirable setup for 18+. They work ok as delivered but that's it. There is no room to grow with that setup and even at stock boost levels the intercooler is very undersized. I think that blower on the Roush cal will put out a consistent 580-600 at the wheels even when hot. That is enough for some people. If not, I'd consider something else We have tuned 100s of the Roush 2650s with no issues though. Just have to have realistic expectations.

Ken does the gen2 GT's use the same strategy. I have a edelbrock SC that im about to install and the cats are one of my major concerns right now. I have seen more than a few instances online where the cat failed,plugged up and it was game over for the engine.

@@PalmBeachDyno so in the instances i have seen where the cat clearly overheated that it may be possible that the tune restricted the response too much. trying to be gentle here and not point fingers, just a inquiry so i can make better decisions myself along with things to monitor.

You have to find away to get the traction control to not kick in with launch control! I saw the video with Drag Times!!! I was like ahhhhhbb😤😠🤬 Foot braking did much better on that shitty street with traction off, Even when Speed Phenom did his 10.6 pull same thing, it would go into bog as soon as it thought it was or probably did start to spin the car you could clearly see bogged and not because of power but damn Traction control. Also I am hoping you can also get in raising the launch control above 3200. Iconic also played with his car at my dragstrip in Jackson South Carolina called Carolina Dragway. He Rand 10.4@131 with stock tune 1299 DA 74 degrees and humid as it was raining off and on all day. He did cut traction control off and hit 137mph!!! But et was down for many reasons. The GT500 has to get the launch and Traction control fixed so it can get the 60ft way down. With that power it should be able to pull 1.3's 60ft with good tires.
