The sporty exterior design is achieved by the Cascading Grille and the refined new light signature with full LED headlights give the car a high-tech image. Furthermore an uplifted front bumper, refined skid plate and a new wheel design complement the Tucson’s exterior appearance. The car is also equipped with a new rear taillight as well as a redesigned rear bumper and muffler. By offering a combination of exceptional roominess, a highly ergonomic interior design and a wide range of advanced powertrains the New Tucson delivers greater efficiency and driving dynamics.
The New Tucson is powered by two diesel and two petrol engines. All of them are revised achieving a reduced weight, which further improves CO2 emissions. Additionally, the New Tucson is the first Hyundai to be available with a mild hybrid 48 V powertrain. The new mild hybrid powertrain system is the efficient solution for customers looking for a vehicle with a great cost-efficiency ratio.
The most powerful powertrain in this line-up is the 2.0-litre diesel engine with an output of 136 kW / 185 PS which can be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission (6MT) or optionally with the newly developed 8-speed automatic transmission (8AT). This high-performance engine comes with Hyundai’s four-wheel drive, called HTRAC. It is equipped with a differential lock equally distributing torque to the front and rear wheels.
Alternatively, customers can choose between the newly developed Smartstream 1.6-litre diesel engine with two power outputs: the standard version is capable of 85 kW / 115 PS and the high power version offers 100 kW / 136 PS. Both engines are available with a 6MT and front-wheel drive. For the high power version Hyundai offers a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (7DCT) and the choice of front- or four-wheel drive, Hyundai’s HTRAC.
To meet customers’ needs the New Tucson is also available with two petrol engines. The 1.6-litre GDI with a 6MT and front-wheel drive generates 97 kW / 132 PS. Delivering up to 130 kW / 177 PS, the 1.6-litre T-GDI is competitive in its segment in terms of power and performance. It can be mated to a 6MT or a 7DCT, both available with front- or four-wheel drive (HTRAC). The entire engine line-up of New Tucson meets the new Euro 6d Temp emission standards, resulting in improved fuel efficiency by minimising drivetrain friction losses.
The latest Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driving assistance features available in the new Tucson comply with the highest European safety standards. The class-leading safety package consist of: Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Intelligent Speed Limit Warning (ISLW). New in the range is the Driver Attention Warning (DAW), which helps to monitor driving patterns in order to detect reckless or fatigued driving. Furthermore, the safety package now includes the newly developed Hyundai’s Surround View Monitor (SVM), which uses cameras to provide 360° vision during reversing. Additionally bi-LED headlamps, the High Beam Assist (HBA) and rain-sensing wipers provide high visibility at all times. Using front radar sensors, the Tucson’s Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC w/ S&G) is the latest addition of the active safety and driving assistance features range and keeps constant speed and distance from the vehicle ahead by automatically accelerating and braking to ensure an efficient and safe ride.
With its latest infotainment features the New Hyundai Tucson suits the connectivity needs of modern customers. They can choose between class-leading comfort and convenience features which consist of the new premium sound system by Krell, the up-to-date wireless QI standard based mobile phone charger and a new 7-inch information screen supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity.
