The OP says he isn't going to use the remote for a while (could be the spare) so this makes sense. Thanks, didn't know about this. For us daily drivers, just put a new battery in it and enjoy the normal functionality.

It worked for me, now the fob is recognized and not saying battery low. Very thankful for your post it was about to drive me nuts!!

Awesome! Just got a cx5 rental and the warning said low battery on the fob....It was in this power saving mode.

Power saving mode ON might be a theft deterrent if the thief is using a device placed close to your residence and relaying the signal of your actively transmitting FOB to the second thief close to your vehicle. I had run into the issue with my 2019 Mazda 3 not automatically unlocking when I put my hand on the handle as well as having to put my key fob up to the start button in the car. I’m hoping this works when I try it.

I just received a CX-50 and I am able to only unlock and lock the car by using the key fob or the mazda app. I cannot seem to unlock and lock by using the keyless entry. Is it possible it is in power saving mode? I can definitely start the car via push button but I cannot unlock or lock any of the doors or the trunk.

it sounds likely it is in power saving mode. turn power saving mode off on the FOB. let me know if that works

Is there any way to disable the ac when window defogger mode is used? I think it should be left upto the driver to decide. There is a video to do the same on a 8th gen civic. Is it possible on the Mazdas?

You do know you can still decide to manually override by pressing the A/C button to turn it off once the defog button has been pressed? Worked on pretty much every car I've owned that had A/C, including our Mazda6. Plus I don't know why someone would want a slower defog by disabling the A/C.

@@devilsadvocate2548 my 2012 Mazda 3, when you put the front windshield defog to on, the AC compressor kicks on but the AC light stays off, so it cannot be turned off unless you switch off the front defogger. There is no way to disable this as it is a safety feature.

If the key is on sleep mode can it still open the car door? Also can it lock the car? I know you have to put the key fob really close to the ignition buttton to turn on but that’s all .

Yes you can use the fob to lock and unlock if there is power in the battery. If you have the intelligent key entry model, you can’t lock and unlock by pushing the button on the driver door handle

So when the light is red it means its on power saving mode? I thought my key fob was gonna die any moment🤔

Red light indicator comes on when power saving mode is off / not activated. It will drain a bit more power over time when power saving mode is off.
