I started realizing early on that I only need to buy movies I have some intention in rewatching again..so i’ve started to cut back on getting every release and I try and see the movie before release day to get an idea on whether it has some rewatch ability or not but I have been collecting since early last year and i think i’m close to 100 or so if i can offload my old dvds i will use that money to expand my steelbook and 4K collection

Thecatdrums3 depends on the conditions of your steelbooks, if you cleaned every week, and if they have some kind of protective case, could be one year or 5,

Thecatdrums3 i got 18 steelbook both video game and movie some of them are already more than 10 years and still don't have any rust on any of them. Just try not to scratch it and keep it dry, make the metal expose to humidity in the air will cause them to rust, just put it in a dvd / blu ray plastic bag (and it's also really cheap) or a plastic case and it should be fine. At least for me ps. Sorry for my english.

What protective covers do you use? My birthday is coming up and I am trying to give people an idea of what type to get. I want to think my first steelbook was Captain America winter solder and I have been collecting since. Picked up a bunch when best buy had the pixar and marvel 4k steelbooks for 9.99 and 12.99.

I've only collected 17 steelbooks over the past 8 years since I don't have a Best Buy or Target near me. Nevertheless they are great and I try to pick them up whenever I can. Awesome collection video man!

@@durantcinema7345 I get them from Wal-Mart or Big Lots usually. Sometimes I pick them up from Target when I go on trips. A lot of the steelbooks I own are not exclusive ones, so they can be found in any general retail stores that sell movies.

Upscaled standard Blu ray 1080p’s are so good on an OLED that 4ks discs are only Necessary and worth a penny for certain movies that have fantastic transfers and include HDR or Dolby Vision.. think.. 1917, Blade Runner 2049, Blue Planet ii, Aquaman, Black Panther, GoT, LotR, etc Above all dont buy digital media! You dont own it.. keep buying physical discs, we are being pushed into owning thin air

I don't have too many SteelBooks, since I just started collecting Blu-Rays a couple of months ago, but I do have the Best Buy exclusive Finding Nemo and Finding Dory SteelBooks. There are a couple of other movies that I've considered getting SteelBooks of (i.e. Psycho 60th Anniversary), but for now, this is all I've got.

What's the point of collecting movies? I just don't understand. You buy a movie, watch it once maybe twice, and then you put it in a closet and do nothing with it. I think it's a real waste of money. I prefer to buy things that benefit me for years and do something with it, instead of buying something that I use once or twice, to put it in a cupboard and then do nothing with it. I really don't understand collectors. I personally think that they collect something because they are missing something in their life, and try to compensate for that by collecting something. It's just abnormal for someone to spend that much money on a collection, when it's just really a pointless investment. I don't think my whole house would be full of a collection, it would drive me crazy. With all that money they invest in such a collection they can buy so much useful stuff, I really don't understand ..

Not a fan of steel books, you drop them they get seriously dented, the older ones actually get rusted, and just a waste of money, only ones I own is are a couple universal monsters with Alex Ross artwork, those ones with sweet artwork, and Top Gun, is all I own!
