Finally someone who drives their Camry just like I drive mine!

I have the 2011 Camry and it's a 2.5 engine which is newer than 2.4 in the 07. Honestly, I feel like the older 2.5 are pretty close except at higher speed, the newer ones have more power. But you're right, the newer engine got better response than the older mainly because of the throttle (those Toyota are very well know for lag throttle response). I also agree with you that 8sp is just fine but it need the driver to learn how to drive, understand it a little bit otherwise it prefer to hunting for gears while older 6sp is absolutely easy for most people. I still like the 8sp tho, it has helped the car to be more fuel efficient when cruising on the highway and I like it.

At 18:22 thats why i hate the 8sld in certain conditions. It shouldve grabbed 2md gear but it stayed in 3rd making the climb up a little slow. You'll notice alot of other things about the transmission but most of them are when driving easy. Trust me the 6spd auto is better. I drove over 100k miles with the 8spd so i know every little thing thats wrong with it and whats good about it. Sure flooring it around everywhere is ok but under very easy driving the gear spacing isnt that desirable.

I prefer the 6 speed too, but the 8 speed is absolutely fine if you aren't picking every minor issue. I am sure every transmission has those moments.

Also an engine with high horse power and weak low end torque doesn't help with normal driving, you have to rev up to get more juice. I used to have a 2008 Acura TSX and that car doesn't have much power at lower RPM.

So the XSE V6 Camry you filmed did a 7.2 second 0-60 and the 4 cylinder is 7.9 seconds?!?! Surprised the V6 is only half second faster than this 4 cylinder Camry.

This road also has a little more "favorable" incline by a tenth or two, but yes 0-80 they aren't far apart. The difference is in the mid range and higher speeds past 80.

There is one for sale near me. Did they fix the trans shifting issue (software) and phantom battery drain?

I'm not aware of these issues, so I don't know.

How much stronger is the mid range on the V6? I'm wondering if the TRD version is tuned more aggresively gear ratio wise
@DMCarReviews Жыл бұрын
The V6 does has a stronger mid range for sure, especially after 80mph!

You need to rev this engine up to get more power and the auto has too many gears. I think an engine with lower end torque (and may be less horse power) and 6-7 speed auto might be more suited for daily driving.

It had plenty of torque for me for driving

@@DMCarReviews The problem is it usually on higher gear than it's supposed to be. 0-60 in 8 seconds is not quick enough these days. It's not very good on some merging situations.
