LISTEN TO ME. I just bought a 2020 tundra and I am in love with that thing. I traded in a ltz 1500 2015 and comparing the two; there really isn't one. Don't get me wrong I liked my Silverado, but the quality of the ride and the overall truck hands down beats the Silverado. My Silverado had 112k on it, the air went out, my transmission went out, my steering components were starting to go, and with that also my confidence in Chevy and trust me I am a chevy man but these Toyotas are simple and reliable. Guys screw the buttons and whistles, you won't use them, you drive the truck guys not press buttons, don't let those other companies fool you with their flashy bullshit.

It doesn’t have a sport transmission mode. The S stands for sequential shift and all it is, is a top gear limiter meant for towing. You set the gear you want and it will shift itself between gears to that max gear you set. It doesn’t even tell you what gear you’re in except for when you first put it in S which goes to 4th.

The Tundra weighs a lot so that relatively small engine (small by Murica standards) has to work extra hard to carry that weight around so the MPGs aren't that great
@J.NOBODY.14 жыл бұрын
The reason for the terrible mpg is that the tundra is ported injection and not direct injection like all the other v8s on the market. That means that while yes the fuel economy suffers its more reliable in the long run and less maintenance intensive. Also that 6 speed mated to the 4.30 rear end is meant to put down to power in towing applications. The rear diff is a massive 10.5 inch so that tundra's built to last. Mpg wasn't the primary focus even then I can easily get 17 to 18 on the hwy in mine,
@alh063 жыл бұрын
@@acerusea5156 That's not a small engine in comparison to most of the competition. Relatively similar or bigger.
@youtubeistrash-_-8 ай бұрын
@@acerusea5156It really isn't small, if you're talking about displacement. 5.7 is big for an engine with dohc, the only other v8 trucks with dohc is the nissan titan 5.6 and f150 5.0. Which both are better than gm and rams, which have simpler ohv v8 engines. Not to mention in the gm's you can get a 6.2 and the 5.0 coyote is bigger. Just look at them both and you'll see. The 5.7 in the ram is also ohv and much smaller and in my opinion inferior to this 5.7 iforce in the tundra 😎

Just bought a Tundra last year with the V8. The v8 is going away. I don’t care what anyone says, I doubt a twin turbo V6 will be as reliable as a NA V8!. A lot more parts so more things can go wrong. FYI, I have a TRD Sport for $42k, lower model and Pro 4x was only $2k cheaper in AZ, however, I still gain reliability and resale over the Pro 4x in the long run. Worth it for me since I do all mechanical work myself after 3/36 warranty runs out (do not trust dealerships). Nissan gains are realized now vs Tundra gains realized later. To each his own. All in all I like the Titan better although I still love the Tundra and Toyota in general. I've owned 3 Toyota and just never had problems with any of them. I also think the Tundra is better looking than the Titan. You can't go wrong with either one really.

I have seen several videos where reviewers say the ride quality on paved roads is horrendous.

How the automatic trans in this vs the Tacoma you didn’t like?

Only thing I don’t like is the MPG it could be better, I’m fine with anything over 20

I think if they paired the 8 speed auto from the land cruiser/LX570 there’d be a decent increase in MPG... although even those aren’t great at gas mileage. Then again, Toyota’s not necessarily known for having great MPG in their larger SUVs and Trucks. Had a 18’ Tacoma and it was nice and all but I don’t think I ever saw better than 15-16 mpg in it bone stock... if it were my choice I would’ve bought a tundra instead of the Tacoma

Great truck! Durable and reliable, tried and true, and who tf cares if it's dated? Only Achilles Heel about this truck is...gas mileage. Lol. I remember the first gen Tundra trucks, as a kid. I would stick with that, if you want to save money, since those are now all depreciated in value.

I want this truck so freaking bad but I don't have the money, and then there is also the redesign coming next year which doesn't help matters :(

idk, the TRD Pro seems a little overpriced. Which is why I ended up with the TRD Sport. For approx $13k more than the TRD sport, you only get Fox shocks, rigid fog lights (stock fogs are LED also btw), leather, heated seats and JBL. $13k for 5 more options (that are questionably worth $13k)? And I got BSM, parking sensors and sprayed in bedliner. I can get Stage 7 Icon 3" lift with UCAs for $6k and have WAY better off-road capability without sacrificing tow/haul ability AND a grab handle for $200 (which is a ripoff btw) and still have $3800 in my pocket. Leather is personal preference (not for me personally). Heated seats are nice (only thing I wish I had). JBL is ok, but my 8 speaker system works fine. Rigid fog lights are no brighter/optically superior to the stock LED fog lights. If the TRD Pro was only $5k more than the TRD Sport, it would be worth it, but not for $13k more.

I thought if you wanted to buy a pick up truck it’s mean to come with a manual transmission

I like your review on the TRD pro. I do have a question. how bright are the amber light signal in the front Headlight? Mostly I see that the left / right signal amber light is very low and it's hardly to see the signal light flashing when signal on turning left or right turn. Can you verify that it's bight amber light signal or barely see the signal light with 5 feet away from the healdlight. Thanks.
