Being an experienced Auto Journalist what would you say on why both of these National No 1 & international no 1 auto giants have done such kind of stuff?🤔😑 & Even doing so, none of them is offering any New or exciting product in such a crowded so called SUV market? Is it that they think 'yeh to India he or yahaan logon ko gadio ke baren me kya pata chalta he' kind of mindset😣? Look at the competition like Korean Brand so much Engine, Gearbox & variant choice (was never the case earlier at this price point - yes was & still there with German Brands😎), also let's talk about our own Indian brand Tata Nexon (it offers almost everything now like - engine, gearbox, 5* safety , different & forward thinking design with amazing space & decent balance of ride & handling & off course the pricing is also quite fair), why can't both Biggie's think it?? I ALSO DONT UNDERSTAND IN 2021 WHY THEY STILL OFFER 4 SPEED AUTO?😢 Maruti still understood, but Toyota has all types of modern & more efficient auto boxes!!

We do trust them for reliability, and they deliver on that, it is just that maruti wants more buyers so it is trying to cut costs and make its cars cheaper so that even people on a budget can have a car. Do you remember that time, when you were sleeping in bed, and out of nowhere your dad who hasn't yet been home shows up in a brand new Maruti 800? Maruti just wants the whole of India to have a car to transport themselves and their families in, and do not have to use public services like train, buses, aeroplane etc. because compared to cars they are costlier(in terms of fuel prices and ticket prices). So they cut costs by removing safety features, not offering modern features, and giving close to no features in base models. And toyota, on the other hand, wanted more products in its portfolio so it had borrowed the highly selling baleno from maruti and rebadged it.

Just because few enthusiasts are not finding 4 Speed AT exciting, a general perception is made that 4 Speed AT is not good, without giving any logic. Why? Whereas, any automated gear shifting is any day far better than driving a manual car with the clutch for everyday usage.

Your comment is so stupid because you do not understand how actually an automatic gearbox works, 4-speed automatic have been ditched since the year 1950 due to advancement in technology and computing, in early days computing was the bottleneck. So why use of 4 speed in an era where you have multiple automatic gearbox option,eg DCT,torque converter, AMT, CVT. Sorry but you wrote this comment just to feel superior and to project false knowledge. How dumb is that? Ok let's explain it to you in a 4 speed auto gearbox the gear ratios will be abruptly managed because there are less gives to work with. That is why more than usual automatic cars have more gears than manual and not less. It is because if a computer is deciding what gear is best it will work better with options at disposal like 7 speed or 8 speed. The 4 speed gearbox will either try to hang on to a particular gear for much longer period of time then needed because it has less options and thus will either lose out on economy or performance or both at the same time.q I can write 1000 word essay on why not to buy 4-speed automatic. But I think you are too dumb to understand.

@@ApneBhai Ok let's explain it to you in a 4 speed auto gearbox the gear ratios will be abruptly managed because there are less gears to work with. The gear ratios will be very short for the first two gears and very tall for the last two, which is not ideal when it comes to engine life of economy or performance. That is why more than usual automatic cars have more gears than manual and not less to same fuel as the car can select automatically between 7-9 gears, that keeps the car and perfect rev range so as to reduce engine wear and increase performance. Is especially efficient when cruising. The 4 speed gearbox will either try to hang on to a particular gear for much longer period of time then needed because it has less options and thus will either lose out on economy or performance or both at the same time. Maruti has always been cheap and they find ways to cost cut, and a 4speed gear box is one of them.

@@ApneBhai You don't get it, It's a trade off, Either mileage a performance, Also 4 speed auto is notorious for early clutch degradation as compare to 6 or 8 speed autos. On top of that because of the car driving in low gears most of the time the engine heats up more often , it won't make a difference in short term but in long term the engine will give up faster than a manual or an eight speed or 6. typical life of Petrol engine is around 3 lakh kilometres And diesel is about 4-8 lakh kms, depending on how could you maintain it. Modern auto gearbox will always be better than manual because not everyone can drive a manual properly, I have a polo tsi manual, company claims 18kmpl i get 20 if i am not an asshole to her.
