I don't see why they say its 2020 model or 2019 or 2018. Its a bit misleading. I own a Wigo which I got last December 2018 and it still has the same specs as the one shown at this video. Daihatsu's Wigo, and Ayla as it is named in some Southeast Asian country like Malaysia, only has two models, if you call it that way. First was when it was released in 2013 which they called as the pre-facelift model. The second one was the face lifted model which was first released in the Philippines in 2017. If you see a Wigo with a chrome stripe as the side that is the pre-facelift model. The one shown above is their current model. When I say current it does not mean by year but just the latest release which is the face-lifted model.

I agree with you. There isn’t, if any, exterior changes to the 2020 Wigo compared to previous years. I had rented Wigos for the past 7 months before buying one. So I had driven the 2017, 2018, and 2019 Wigo. Honestly, they are all just great small cars to me. Again, I can’t independently confirm what the dealer told me, but when they were selling me the car they said the only thing that has changed in the 2020 Wigo is that the engine is now a Toyota engine, as opposed to the previous Daihatsu engine in previous models.

I have a 2019 Wigo G variant MT, it does say Daihatsu all over the engine bay. Anyways Daihatsu is one of the companies under Toyota... Good thing that Toyota comes up with a home grown power plant for the Wigo 2020 model. Congratulations on your new car, you'll gonna love it.

Sorry about not showing the back. We’ll fix that on the next video. There is a tiny bit of space in the back, enough to fit luggage for 2 people. The cost of the vehicle was 601,000 pesos (after a 25,000 pesos discount). I spent an additional 33,000 pesos on accessories I added, such as a sub-woofer, TV Plus, rear backup camera, etc.

I am not sure what the mileage of the new 2020 Wigo is. But the 2019 Wigo had 22km per liter. So I’m going to have to go on an assumption that the 2020 Wigo is similar to that. Because the 2020 Wigo is so new, even googling around doesn’t really tell you what the actual gas mileage is.

I think it depends on the kind of driver you are. If zigzag between lanes in order to get ahead of everyone, this will not be the car for you. The acceleration is not very speedy as it is a low budget car. I mostly stay in my lane throughout most of my journey to SLEX/NLEX. So, I get fantastic gas mileage and save gas money. The Wigo is a cheap car that continue to save me even more money, so for me it’s a win-win.

Yes, contrary to popular belief, the Wigo can comfortably seat and drive 4 Filipino adults with no problems in both Tagaytay and even Baguio! So long as you don’t mind hearing the engine strain a little (or quiet a bit for Baguio). It’s an economical car that will get you to point A to point B. I think if your expectations are in line with that, you will not be disappointed.

In general, automatic is much easier if you will be using it mostly in the city or especially if you go to Baguio! If you have ever gone to Baguio with a manual transmission, you know it can be quiet a challenge whether you are a man or woman. When you are in a city, the stop-and-go of city driving can strain your left knee quiet a bit. The automatic transmission cost more, just to let you know.

You have a good question and I don’t know how to answer it directly. I have tried googling it for you, but couldn’t find a direct answer myself. In the larger picture, it may not matter if the Engine has the words “Toyota” or “Daihatsu” printed on it because the company Daihatsu is completely owned by Toyota. All Toyota Wigos are made in Indonesia by Daihatsu-even the ones sold in the Philippines. The Wigos in Indonesia are sold by the name of “Daihatsu Ayla” or sometimes “Toyota Ayla.” I hope this helps a little bit. Thx for the question.

My friends and I were trying to find a review of the 2020 Wigo in KZbin and we couldn’t find a decent one. So we made one! 😅 Before I bought my Wigo, I rent Wigos quite frequently, like every 2-3 weeks, and have driven the 2017, 2018, 2019 Wigos. Between the 2019 and 2020 Wigo I would say they are virtually identical, except for the engine on the 2020 Wigo is made by Toyota whereas the earlier model’s engine were made by Daihatsu (a Toyota wholly-owned subsidiary company).

The TRD is an add-on. So you buy the car first, then you pay extra for the TRD stuff. So, if you buy automatic, you pay for TRD, then you get an automatic TRD. If you buy, manual, then you get a manual car with TRD. Hope that makes sense. And good luck on your purchase. I’ve been enjoying m Wigo. 🤗

I think that’s a personal preference. I didn’t want to spend the 33K just to have those upgrades. Plus, I’m not particularly fond of the red accent of the TRD. But if you have the money and you love the TRD accent, then go for it! You will have to pay for it in cash though.

Toyota installed the TV Plus in the auxiliary of the infotainment system. So I do not know how they installed it. I would assume they just connected the RCA/HDMI cable, hooked up the power, then connected it to the antenna of the car. I’m only guessing though.

It has an option for it. But you have to pay extra. I did not take that option as I would rather just use Google Maps or Waze on my phone. I have a phone clip attached to my air vent (like what Grab drivers have) and that works pretty well.

It drives smoothly in the highway and it will get you to 120kph without a problem if the car is not overloaded with people. If you are just by yourself getting to 120kph is no problem at all.

I agree with you. I definitely want keyless entry and push start. If those things are important to you (which they are to me too) you can try checking out KIA Picanto as it has both of those. In the end, I ended up buying a Toyota just because of the brand name, the reliability factor, and I was told it’s cheaper to get the parts for a Wigo here in the Philippines.

Hahaha yes. They work fine when you are driving slow or in traffic. Not so much when you are driving, say, in NLEX.
