I have this same bike, same year have done lots of changes to the bike...looking to get a dyno and hope I am able to get at least 110 at the rear. This is a ROCK SOLID bike and build...sooo much fun to ride. Keeps up with more liter bikes than you would think in a fun way on the road. Obviously flat out is no comparison...but most of us aren't trying to push 130+ on every ride. I routinely cruise at 110 on mine and still has power if you touch the throttle. Sad to see Triumph discontinue and give up on the bike...though the number of sales doesn't help with that. I think better marketing would have improved the numbers...most people I come across in the US NEVER heard of the Thruxton...though they are familiar with Triumph.

I wanted a Thruxton but got a Bonnie instead. I was looking for a cruiser type bike to ride to the beach on the weekends. It had to be comfy and not a Harley. I think I made a good choice. Maybe some day I will find a Thruxton in the future just because they are so badass!

RS used to mean Rat Shit Return to Service. Ive got a 1200 Thruxton and love it. Spent $1000s on mods but worth it.

Yes it was. The former Ace Cafe that is no more. Sad to see it go.

@TRocksGarage777 really shocked me when it was announced. I made really good friends with the guys at Dainese. I'm a bus driver across the street and I hope they don't demolish the building

@@fexil7567 So is the belly pan...just have to select RS model and a lot of parts specific for this build are available. I don't like the curve near the tank as it exposes the frame...have reached out to the owner to ask to flatten but he has said he will not. But nice seat over stock overall.

How reliable are this Triumph engines ?
@TRocksGarage777 Жыл бұрын
Great question. The Triumph engines are a solid engine without any problems. Triumph has been using them for decades and been refining them over time to the point where they are bullet proof.
@MirdenLayra Жыл бұрын
I cant tell you how much I appreciate your reply @TRocksGarage777 , it's been a long time trying to find some information about it, also trying to find just like you said, a bulletproof engine... I want to have the confidence that my motorcycle wouldn't leave me alone on the road. So many positive as negative comments I have heard about all the brands, but no one said what you just said, "bulletproof engine"... I was trying to find that exactly. Thanks a lot for your time and answering me, not many people do that nowadays. Keep flying high brother, ride safe

@@MirdenLayra I literally have friends that have these engines in their bikes with over 100,000 miles on them.

@@TRocksGarage777 The truth is that I was a little undecided about which brand to go for. I really liked this motorcycle but I didn't know if its engines were reliable... But a comment like yours, coming from a professional in all types of motorcycles like you, honestly cleared my mind, and I am very grateful for it.

I've owned my 2016 Thruxton R and ran it 55 times down the drag strip and 19 times top speed at Bonneville with zero issues. I've run the stock 16T and 17 and 18T as well as the stock 42T rear and 37 and 40 rear sprockets establishing the engine flexibility.

Is it stock rev limit or set a little higher?

I think it's stock.

@@TRocksGarage777 8400 RPM is the limter on these tuned. The tachometer only goes to 8000, so right off the tach. As you can see, it's just peaking at the redline. If our software could let us push it higher, we would just a bit. But with the tach only going to 8000, you have to do it by ear. I own DNK TuneWorks, so I know ;-)

Stock RS gets 103HP. So 105HP that this bike got was not much of a change. :(
@TRocksGarage777 Жыл бұрын
You are correct. The stock bike makes 103 horsepower but that is at the crank. Rear wheel horsepower would be around 87 to 88 horsepower in stock form. So with the mods that he installed is a pretty good respectable number. So this bike actually got an 18 horsepower gain over stock form.
@r.i.p2464 Жыл бұрын
5-10 gain is huge on a light weight vehicle such as a motorcycle. And sometimes, it is not about the peak horse power. After the tuning on my bike, the peak horse power remained the same but it had so much more hp and torque on the lower rev range, making it way faster than stock.
@operator07 ай бұрын
If you go by the standard parasitic loss number of 10-15% hp loss to the wheel, then this bike is making 117-124hp at the crank...off just a decat, silencer, and tune. Pretty damn amazing if you ask me.
@markbailey3027 Жыл бұрын
