A gift horse was looking us in the mouth. She was the only runner who could be a genuine Champion hurdler and Nicky told us she'd cope with the track. All so obvious with hindsight. Lovely mare.

Pundits said this Champion Hurdle was "below what we expect" due to not much quality, but this mare, Epitante has certainly got some gears, a worthy winner and will go on to win more big races. Barry had to take a pull 3 out and 2 out so he knew what he had under him.

Great win. Mares weight allowance is a stick on in that race. Sharjah last to 2nd tells you all you need about the rest.

tomtheeagle1 I’ve no idea the history of mares that have ran. But was no class geldings. Sharjah is class on the day. The rest weren’t proven Grade 1 winners/runners. Annie Power pissed up with the mares allowance. I look for it in the Bumper tomorrow. PANIC ATTACK 12/1 solid ew bet.

@@MrSmid888 Agree with that conclusion but that is a bumper. Very few mares have won it and only one has done the CH/Gold Cup double, Dawn Run. Without Faugheen in same ownership/trainer as Annie Power, she'd possibly have won 3 CHs?!

tomtheeagle1 I backed Elliot’s Mare in the Bumper 2 years ago I think it was. I forget the name, passed 20 horses in the last 2f to win. Think she got injured and retired. In other weight news Tiger Roll is well in tmoro.
