As a sailor, it's amazing how many of my fellow sailors over tune the rig and cause their boats to bend. I've been racing on boats where the owner would keep cranking on the hydraulic backstay while going upwind as if it was a magic throttle. That's about the nicest guest head I've seen. Beats most owners heads because of the seperate shower. Its a beautiful boat. Thanks for the video.!

Yeah the forward guest is almost as nice as the owners haha! Thanks for watching.

LOVE that workshop. Unfortunately, storage for fenders, sails, toys. etc is limited and the under-bed engine location is not my favorite. I am a tall guy and working under there is tough, changing a racor and you may smell diesel in the bedroom. I'd also like to hear how it sails. Looking for more videos on it now.

I was able to view one of this cats in FL. There is huge difference in quality and fit and finish. Laches, Door hardware, Cabinets are what you would find in expensive custom boat. I have not sailed on one yet. Boat feels very well put together. South African normal day is 30 to 40 knots to light air.

EVA foam decks will have a very short life, at least before they start looking very ordinary. The plus is they are great to walk on and certainly stay cooler! Engine controls are a bit exposed and prone to accidental grabbing. Interior layout is great, very stylish, not to my taste, but still looks great! Not a fan of the engine location under the bunk, however sometimes due to space constraints it’s a necessary evil. Great to see new vessels, thanks for sharing. 😎🏖🌴☀️🇦🇺

Nice looking cat Ben! but an unknown which I probably would wait to see how they last, love the vinyl flooring, the seadeck type rubber decking, the electric/propane stove is unique, I wish all mfg's would use in mast/boom furling as well, I thought that was a 10k generator? I missed the part about electric...engines? that would explain the generator. The narrow, fast hulls I've finally realized is a novelty which cost you a whole lot of cruising space, I now look at cats as a trawler that happens to have sails, so get the bigger engine option and trawl! the big fat hulls, forget about predict wind and go...well most of the time. By the way I'm still thinking about the FP 44 owners vs. but would prefer a 48 with big engines:-)

Orana or Helia? I love the 48 but man, hard to find and they are in demand these days! The engines on this boat aren't electric but they can be. Owner just has a genset for funsies I guess.

There's a lot to like about the Vision, and if I had the money to drop on one today it would be at the top of my shortlist with the Seawind 1370 and Balance 482. Honestly, Vision's willingness to make changes to the boat for the customer probably pushes it to my #1 spot, whereas Seawind seem to build great boats, and seem to enjoy working with the customer, I suspect their more "production line" build process means a lot more limited options for customization. And from what I've seen on Balance's videos, they may be great for custom aesthetics, but seem like they would basically fight you every inch of the way if you wanted to do anything they don't think is the best way of doing it. I think that of the three, Balance are probably the better boats, but their attitude just rubs me the wrong way. Not that you can actually buy any of these right now anyways. Lol, not without a 2 to 3 year wait anyways. Heck, from what Balance sent me, they have one 482 build slot left in 2023, and aren't taking any more orders beyond that right now. I think the 1370 is out to 2024, though I suspect several of those are broker slots. And IIRC, the info pack I got from Sail Away for the 444 put their earliest open build slot out roughly the same timeframe. Seems that if you want a new catamaran now, other than one of the big three, you should have bought it a couple years ago, lol.

Thanks for the long and insightful response. Phew! Haha, well hindsight is 20/20. Even the big three are about 1.5-2 years out right now so not as bad but yup. I've got few good performance listings which are essentially private if you want something...

What makes it a performance cat??? It looks like any other over weight charter boat with a cheap single helm.. Not impressed at all. Maybe next time you could include some details like hull length to width, sail area, bridge deck clearance, you know, details that matter .....

Bad hardware , no back cushions in main patio, But the engine under the bed .deal spoiler
@beunhaas1023 жыл бұрын
Engine under the bed wouldn't trouble me as long as one engine has enough power. It's great for weight distribution and the engine noise would only be a problem if you have to pairs of guests onboard and need to use the engine.
