Thank you for this video. I inherited what appears to be about 20K of my brother's cards. Most were purchased between 1989 and 2001. Frankly, I am a bit overwhelmed since they were stored in 3x3 3 ring binder pages within banker boxes. Most appear to be in very good shape. They are somewhat organized by team, but not always. I have started cataloguing them using the CollX app and I am about 3K into the effort. I had no idea the best way to document, organize, or even what should be considered valuable or not. My goal is to offload the collection since I am not a collector. A few questions, if you are willing to provide guidance. I hope that using the CollX app is an acceptable way to start cataloguing, it seems pretty solid so far. Should I keep the cards in the 3 ring protectors or remove them and put them in boxes like you do? I assume then it is best to organize by brand (set) and year? When do you recommend that I use penny sleeves and top loaders to protect cards? What are the one touches used for? Since most appear to be commons (less than 10 cents in value according to CollX) what is the best path to sell, e.g., by team, by set, by player with multiple different brands of cards? Thank you in advance for your guidance. Any recommendations on how to efficiently organize and eventually sell would be appreciated. This video was very helpful.

Great questions and I hope I can answer as best as I can for you: If you want to store a lot of cards while taking up the least amount of space, use boxes. Boxes will also allow you to organize and access your cards much easier. It is important to note, however, that taking cards out of binder pages does take awhile. If they are already in the binder, I would just leave them in there, unless you're looking to save on space and organize more precisely, then take them out. When to use penny sleeves: I use them on cards I think have at least a little bit of value (more so than the common card). I like to put penny sleeves on cards of big name players, serial numbered cards, rarer inserts or parallels, and autographs and relics. Obviously, don't use them on EVERY card (unless you really want to). When to use toploaders: I use them on cards that value at $1 or more (I find the prices of cards online using COMC, eBay, etc.). I also use them on cards for my personal collection, even if they aren't worth much. What are one touches? They are super sturdy protective cases for one singular card. They cost a lot more to use, but they display and protect a card very nicely. I use them on my higher-end cards to add a little extra protection. What is the best path to sell lots of cheap cards: There's many ways to approach this. I would group the bigger name players together and sell them as lots. The rest of the cards, I would sell as team lots. If there's a bunch of leftover cards, I would just sell them on a discount in one big bulk lot.

Thank you for a great response that really helps me with working through the process of getting this all organized. Based on your answer and to save space, I have ordered some boxes, top loaders and penny sleeves. You have no idea how much help this was! Thank you. @@EagleMan_TradingCards

I put penny sleeves on every card. If you ever go to sell doesn't matter if they aren't valuabke and common. People will subconsciously feel better about the cards they purchase from you. That's why I always keep anything of values original box becuase if I ever wanted to sell, it will sell 1000 times faster. Not making it up. That's how people are. It portrays not only the item is like new condition but it let's rhe buyer know you take care of your electronics, collectibles or anything of value. Plus putting sleeves and top loaders on cards you will get more money. Period for your cards or the collection in whole. FYI

Great video I think this might of helped me a little. I do have a question for you. My brothers came across 6 large boxes of baseball / football / basketball cards that my dad collected. From my understanding they were given to him many years back when he was coach for little league baseball. There are close to 3k or more.. Since my brothers did want them I took them since I like collecting things. Now i never done collections on baseball cards. I know some what players but how do I figure out the common cards and ones that are worth something. I guess back in the 80 they printed so many that they were filler cards or something like that. Do I have to check every card and see if they are worth something or would scanning them help on the price? Just trying to figure this out. I plan to keep them for myself but I would like to know what they are worth. How do you get started on something like this ?

Very nice collection sir. I have over 500,000 as well and a good filing system is key. I do have 5000 card boxes divided like yours and 1 box is for numbered cards like 1 to 101 then 101 to 200 pn up the ladder. Certified autos separate from not certified. Have 2 others for vintage by year. Have over a 100 complete sets in binders and about 50 binders dedicated to one player each. Fortunately I am able to keep it all in a climate controlled room so I don't make "bricks".

Hi, thanks for sharing your collection. I have a question, what should I do with common cards? yeah they're not sought after, but at the same token, I spent money on them and can't just give it away or sell it for a discounted price just to off-load them. any suggestions?
@EagleMan_TradingCards Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Great question! Commons can be tricky to deal with. If you’re trying to make money off of them, you could sort them into a complete set and sell them as a set. You could sort them into team lots or player lots and sell them that way. It’s tough to sell commons. I tend to donate and sell bulk cheap lots to offload but if you’re making money it’ll take some time!
