Manchester Derby in MD02, can’t say this has ever come so early in the season, but here we are and yes those numbers above are correct, United own City in SL1, in fact City just got their first win over United last season. The two Manchester clubs had disparate results in their openers, with United storming back to stun Barca at Camp Nou 3-2, while City, in a highly charged match with PSG, came away 0-3 losers.
This would not be a competitive clash, City jumped on United from the opening whistle and the matter would not be in doubt. In the 3rd minute, Sergio Aguero volleyed Phil Foden’s cross from 12 yards to get scoring started. In the 11th, it was Raheem Sterling, assisted by Aguero, banging one into the back of the net. United managed to stop the bleeding there and go into the break down 0-2.
Kevin De Bruyne would kill any hopes for a United comeback repeat, in the 50th, went near corner from short range for a 3-0 lead. Bernardo Silva would slam the door on United in the 69th with a vicious volley off Foden’s cross. United would add a consolation goal with Anthony Martial banging one home in the 82nd.
A terrific win for City, exactly what they needed after their disappointing opening loss. United may be crashing back to Earth after their huge win in Barcelona. MD03 will shed more light on the state of things, City have a huge test at Barca, while United will have their home opener against Spurs.
