2021 - 2022 Kia K5 "Key Not Detected" How To Start With Dead Key Fob Battery - K 5 Key Not Detected

A video tutorial on how to start a 2021 - 2022 Kia K5 with a remote key fob that has a dead battery or is showing the error message Key Not Detected.
Kia gives the following information on what to do if your Kia K5 has a dead or broken remote key fob and won't start- showing the message Key Not Detected :
In case the ignition switch does not change with the push of a button and the car won't start, the key fob may have a dead or depleted battery. In this situation, a back up method can be used to operate the ignition switch. Put the top of the key fob against the Kia K 5 START/STOP ignition button and push to operate the ignition key switch. The remote key fob may not be able to be detected by the Kia K5 key fob system if it is located next to a mobile phone, laptop or other electronic device; these devices may prevent the key fob’s wireless signal from being detected and prevent the system from starting your Kia K5.

I have a 2023 Kia Rio S (Tech Package) and had an issue where after changing the battery in the fob and did the reset that the car still wouldn't detect the battery. Long story short and many searches later, I found this video and was curious to try it and BAM! It works! Can confirm that this works on Rio S Tech Package model (Hopefully other model years as well)! Thanks for the video!

BUT, what if you change the battery out and you keep getting a KEY NOT DETECTED msg on your dash? Yes, it starts but how do I reset the key FOB so I have to keep going through simple step demonstrated in your excellent video to start the car? Thanks!

If you are sure the new fob battery is good and installed properly then there may just be an issue with the key fob or the vehicle itself.

There is a chip reader near the stop start button that can read a chip in the fob if the fob is held close enough - even if the fob has no power.

Guys this tech is “shite” if the battery is low car won't even unlock. Keep a pack of batteries in ur car😮 with the locking nut. Ur welcome😊
