I never listen to the manufacturer recommended intervals for oil service. I live in northern Canada and some of the stuff they recommend is insane. On my ford focus they wanted me to change ever 10,000miles with an ecoboost engine. NOPE... i did mine every 5500km on that vehicle... on my kia forte they said 8500miles... nope 5500 on that one too. even with with oil changes at 5500 miles these engines would get so much build up I would seafoam them once or twice a year and the results after each time was crazy how much was coming out in the oil and exhaust. 5k to 5.5k mile intervals on any car should be the upper limit I think.

Thank you. I was looking for this video too. Next time, please upload ivt transmission fluid exchange too. Hyundai said 'no exchange' but it's CVT and I heard that CVT oil needs to be replaced evern 30K.
@thejesusgeek243 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you mentioned that. I plan on changing the oil in the CVT so when it comes time I will make a video on that. Although I plan on changing it every 30k the owners manual does have a maintenance interval for the transmission but I think it says to change the fluid much later than 30k. This car has a chain driven CVT instead of belt driven which should make it more durable but also makes it even more important to change the transmission oil since it’s metal and can get hot with too much friction.
@GlennLaycock3 жыл бұрын
@@thejesusgeek24 YES! CVTs degrade slowly so the driver does not notice .. but a new person getting in would be; so that is a concern. I've been reading that they actually get hot, so changing the fluid is way to have them FUNCTION WELL for a decade (200,000 km).

Every auto parts shop around here is out of stock or has a totally borked compability list that lists like 200+ things that definitely don't work. I've only put about 2k miles on mine, but wanted to change it after a hot florida summer and it's been SUCH a headache. Had to come here to find the part number for the filter.

@@thejesusgeek24 Hi from Nova Scoria. I have a 21 Preferred which is the middle of the road version here in Canada. The little black plastic screw included in the box is the oil filter housing drain plug. You in theory pull that plug first to drain the oil filter housing prior to taking the filter housing apart to get the filter out. If you do that then it is a single use item and hence the new one on the box. I don’t think it is necessary. Mine is due for its first oil change in 17 days so wanted to see what this one looked like before I put in on ramps. Thanks for the video and I would be interested in a iVT video as well.
