This stuff should still release at around $500, and even the base are premium numbered to 249. It's the distributors bending buyers over with the price.

In order for there to be a legit rookie, it has to be sequential to a base. Thus if the base cards don’t exist, there would be no true RPA

The Cup was actually a fun gamble back when it was $500USD per box, now it's just a giant kick in the dick. SPA is beginning to drop back to its pre covid price, but they watered it down too much. Hopefully the consumer shows UD that these prices are outrageous for what you usually get.

Great post. Unfortunately breakers are artificially supporting the high prices and watering down of products. When people lose their shirts who overspend on breaks hoping to hit Bedard, it's going to be bad. Like who is actually spending $300 US for flagship series 2?

@@Millicurie551 yea its a double edge sword. Breakers keep the hobby going but they also allow the hobby shops and distributors to get away with charging these prices which are insane! I have a blowout cards shop local here and the guys even say that UD has not raised any prices to disti so it's all on them.. Its sad that flagship will be at those prices though.. Ill just wait for retail and buy a bunch of mega boxes and tins though.

@@Millicurie551 I'm going to wait for series 2 to hit epack. They don't usually charge as much as retailers, but we will see. Also, always wait before buying raw YGs until the product goes to epack. The market gets flooded afterwards and prices drop.

You could buy a PSA 9 McDavid Young Guns for the price of this gamble. What do you think is the better investment? I've never bought a Box of Cup and never will. Nice Gretz, Nice RNH and I really think Perfetti will be a 50 goal scorer, he's got it! Peterka is one of my fav new players too, but I agree that card is too minimal. Anyways, thanks for breaking this thing so I can see.

Those The Show/Showcase are horrible, from what i seen ALL boxes come with 1 and very limited are auto. Garbage plus a base card, ALL cards in Cup should be minmal auto

Would be nice to see them come down, I'm afraid the popularity of group breaks won't let that happen. Last year's (2020-21) cup hasn't changed in price much at all and it's got even more sticker autos than 2021-22.

Products I've made profit from breaking in the past year: 2020-21 The Cup, 2022-23 Trilogy, 2021-22 Ultimate, 2022-23 SPGU CHL, 2021-22 Premier, 2023-24 UD Series 1...Certainly not every release but I've been doing OK.

Think about how many boxes you have had to buy to get lucky enough to hit a rare card that makes a return. Yeah, sure, once in a while, you beat the odds, but numbers dont lie. When I look over checklists, it's very clearly a game that favors the dealer.
