Thank you Randy. Glad you watched the whole thing. I was so out of my comfort zone the entire weekend, scared to death, but so glad I did it.

Thank you Garrett, and yes Baja is truly a special place. It is a different beauty, best seen in the early morning and late afternoon light, with long shadows from the cacti!

thanks Riccardo - whoever would have imagined, all those years ago in 1984, that running the Roof of Africa would eventually lead to this!!!

I wonder how Baja racers finished this race without GPS like back in the 70's etc? Today this guys have total cockpits on their bikes to navigate by satellite. Cool video!

So true, they didn’t have vcp’s making sure they were on course, so if they diverted some and made their way back, all good. 😂😂

Thanks for sharing! What type model of bike was your team using? Congrats for that good ride and the great results!
@dannysteyn2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure Ivan, just want to encourage more to try this wonderful race. Our team, like many others, rode a Honda CR450. I think ours was a 2012-2016 model. Easy to work on, and pretty bullet proof. In fact ours ran for many hundreds of miles with no water in the radiator. Amazing that it never seized.

Quick question, which race was more difficult the Baja or the Roof? I'd be right keen to hear the answer to this question...I have a feeling you'll say the Roof because you have to complete the race yourself without a team but I may be wrong.
@dannysteyn2 жыл бұрын
The ROOF is way more difficult not because it is done solo, but it is all about the terrain. ROA is more like hard enduro, and you need Graham Jarvis like skills to finish it. The Baja1000 can be done by anyone with above average dirt bike skills and a decent amount of grit. Now if you ironman the Baja1000, that takes massive amount of grit and determination
