Great overview Dave. Thanks. I wouldn’t have painted that stem and spacers red. It looks so bulky, you would think they would try to hide it. Spoils the visual appeal of the whole bike.

Nice bike I'm sure; ticks all the boxes - lighter, more aero, stiffer, etc But leaves me slightly cold - as most new bikes do.

That red stem makes it look front heavy. Not the best looking BMC.

I think with nice deep section wheels it could be better. But yes, the red is not really a good choice.

Bontrager Aeolus RSL bar/stem is lighter, isn’t it?
@VeloVeloVeloTV4 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, you're right! Bontrager's new one-piece bar/stem wins by about 12 grams.

@@VeloVeloVeloTV The older XXX is even lighter still, but cable integration is poor and it has round tops, so perhaps not a fair comparison.

Now that I think about it. Does anybody think it looks a little bit like the new Scott Addict RC from the side?

I notice some changes on the 51 frame, namely the offset and wheelbase are longer, probably largely because of a slacker headtube. Looking at the emonda it on paper seems a lot snappier. Can you maybe comment on this? I've ordered the trek, but can still change it to the bmc because it's currently unavailable in my size
@VeloVeloVeloTV4 жыл бұрын
We'll see if we can get our hands on a smaller frame to see how the ride compares.

I see this available for pre order at some dealers at nearly AUD 15K. Seriously over priced IMO and they dont even spec with a power meter as standard. Even SWorks do that.

Finally BMC comes with a one piece handlebar, as everybody now understood, that this is crap. Starting to be something special, it ended up to be pure mainstream. Not even the color appeals to me. Good bye BMC.

don't know whose been living under a rock but the Emonda cockpit is 270g, so why claim this is probably the lightest on the market? pretty sure you guys covered the emonda too. IF as a keen cyclist into tech I can keep on top of these numbers, I expect media companies who do this as their profession to be able to also. Otherwise great review, sorry for being nit picky.
@VeloVeloVeloTV4 жыл бұрын
Fair nitpick. It was the wrong choice of words while going off-script, I most certainly should have said: "it's one of the lightest" (as is written in the full review). Dave.

@@madmonkeycycling9098 but isn't that the point. Manufacturing standards/ tolerances are notoriously unreliable in bike frames and bottom brackets - press fit is pointless if manufactured poorly.
@Kansloos4 жыл бұрын
@@nickbond618 All depends on good QC, that some manufacturers choose to outsource there frames to be made far away and have bottombrackets issues, isn't a pressfit issue. Threaded is maybe easier to service and you don't hear it creaking as often then if you had pressfit but the issue/misallignment is still there. So yeah pressfit is king if done right.
