This was so helpful thank you so much. Have my mechanics exam tomorrow and have been struggling with mechanics through the whole course but this really helped 😊

Someone said it’s because, there is no mass acting on the ladder like a person or a box on the ladder which we would resolve like you said, instead it’s just a ladder so it feels no reaction force hence we simply resolve vertically. I was so confused lol

i keep getting confused - when do we use < and when do we use = for the coeff of friction equation ????
@Acryl1ic616
@Acryl1ic616 3 ай бұрын
Use = when it’s in equilibrium and < when the ladder starts sliding to the left

Hey sir, for the projectiles question. If you consider up as positive for the vertical motion. The displacement would be -70 and the acceleration would be positive, so 10?
@ollielloydjones5774
@ollielloydjones5774 3 ай бұрын
gravity as a force acts downwards vertically. this means that if up is positive, then acceleration is negative therefore acceleration is -10 :)
@リオ利緒
@リオ利緒 3 ай бұрын
@@ollielloydjones5774 so when we do Suvat vertically and horizontally, are we only looking at the initial acceleration? isn't it only -10 at the stand, 0 at the bottom, then +10 at the end?
@abeeha7567
@abeeha7567 3 ай бұрын
Are we meant to take acceleration as -10 or -9.8 because in a 2020 paper, he took acceleration of -9.8 to a similar question like this.

For Q2, part d, would you just say “ the string would have a mass/weight” Would this be enough to get the mark?

In projectiles questions, how do you know when s/a/u/v are negative?
@jxpt8935
@jxpt8935 Жыл бұрын
Depends what you take positive. If you take upwards positive, gravity acts downwards so its negative

v = u as there is no air resistance

@aryazaziz2773 3 ай бұрын
im pretty sure when youre solving upwards v=u so you can take the velocity as the vertical u component

@Zimbabwe1911 3 ай бұрын
in the question it says the acceleration is modelled as having magnitude 10, but if it doesn't mention this in a different one probs use 9.8
@Zimbabwe1911

so assume 9.8 unless ur told otherwise like in this example

hello, Thank you for the video. on qn 2 why isn't there a reaction force at the angle? and why is there one at A even if its going to be moving. i read somewhere that the reaction force only occurs at turning points and places that make contact with the surface. please help
@Mara.J.Spencer
@Mara.J.Spencer Жыл бұрын
Because that A is in contact with the surface of the plane, so there is always a reaction force in the perpendicular direction to the surface, the angle is 90°
