As much as I like the G80, that's a no from me on the 18"s. IMHO it sufferers from the Velar dilemma, big wheels are a must. I think it'll look good with a set of 21"s and quad pipes. You got my vote on the steering wheel, gauges & sunroof. And I have to say, the gauges are much much much better looking than the base gauges you get in a standard Mercedes. As always, excellent work, M.

Funny story: I didn't even know the base gauges in an E Class exist until I helped a neighbor find a car recently. I even went to the pre-reveal debrief where they showed us all the interiors but it took seeing a car on a used lot 4 years later for me to see it - and I see why - it was not good.

Yeah, the steering wheel's not great. Also, to your sentiments on the wheel options, I'd love to see some more design choices for the 19"s. The 20"s are cool, but in my *personal* experience, I find the 19"s as a wonderful balance between being aesthetically pleasing and better ride quality. I'd take 20"s on a full-size luxury sedan, though. Mainly on the grounds that those have such supple rides to begin with, it'd be harder to notice.

In 3-5 years that argument will change. A 4 Cylinder turbo engine in a vehicle of that size or larger is simply going to have to work too hard to move that weight and will wear out quickly. I will keep my 3.6L Naturally Aspirated V6 in my Chrysler 200C with AWD with 295 HP. 70 MPH at about 1250 RPM vs. a much higher RPM in this 4 Cyl Turbo.

What I would like to know is for the $49k what would you get in a MB or BMW that would be nearly as good. have you seen a lot of the MB wheels? Most are much, much worse than the G80 base wheels. Also think the steering wheel looks fine. I hate sunroofs. Nobody ever opens them and if it is sunny you need to close the shade so seems like something most people would never miss.

I associate anything coming from Hyundai/Kia as a value proposition. This car is not a value proposition as equipped. It's competitive with other brands, but not a value. Hence, why buy this Genesis and not a Lexus, Cadillac or Mercedes.

@jerryr36523 жыл бұрын
You are right to a degree, or maybe not. This is my 3d G80. Up till now the G80 has been a reasonable substitute for a Jaguar XJ at a lower price. I say up till now because my prior two G80s had a much better build quality then my new 2021 G80 prestige does. It's interior beauty is only skin deep. It's cheaply made with recycled plastic parts that go snap, crackle and pop like a bowl of rice crispiest on steroids. The drivetrain although powerful is far inferior to the prior car and the car shakes and shudders like a tractor when the engine starts and shuts down. The car hit's the brakes on it's own when uncalled for and the car gets unstable because of it. It can be scary at times. I have a coupe of female friends who wont ride in the car after it did some wacky things, which is a shame because it should be a babe magnet. The worst part is that the dealership is clueless on how to fix it, and Genesis corporate is not providing any assistance. In fact I have been trying for 5 weeks now to get a meeting with a factory Engineer with the car at the same time. Customer support is unable to make that happen, in fact their policies seem to be oriented towards delaying customer satisfaction over facilitation. It's sad because I adored my 2 prior G80s and was a huge advocate for the brand. Now I'm just bitter at how badly they treat a high end customer when their overall frame of reference is a $21K Tuscon.
