It *originally* meant killing 1/10th of an army, because that was usually what it took to make a Renaissance era European army unable to fight effectively. Thing about english is meanings change over time. Especially when the relevant information changes. Now it means near-total destruction because that’s what it usually takes to defeat a modern army.

You defend with tanks, go after the econ with BCs and teleport back if they commit with the max roach ravager push. Personally if terran opens bc i tend to want to leave the game.

Maru was still angry from his GSL s1 final loss. This was a “chip on my shoulder” game, a punishment match. As a Maru fan I only regret he didn’t try Battle Cruisers against Rogue. If he doesn’t add them to his regular repertoire he’ll still lose to Rogue.

That first game by MARU was PHENOMENAL....and I have to say, RagnaroK took a good shot at very interesting composition against Battle Cruisers, sadly, Tastotis is correct, RagnaroK chose the absolute worst way to use his 50 banes early on ("The Worst Trade in Super Tournament history") . Props to RagnaroK for taking Maru 20 min into late game.

@@FalconPaladin Other then the spellcaster, there is NOTHING that counter Mech on Zerg side. Tank outrange Lurker, Mines kill Lingbane, Thor/Cyclone destroy Broodlord and Ultra/Roach/Ravager. So unless you get a huge hit on Neuro/Fungal/Abduct before getting hit by Ghost EMP, tell me how you gonna fight Mech exactly? Btw, the last time Reynor fight against Mech style, Clem took a game from him in DH EU, and Inno actually beat him in TSL 5 with Mech style as well. So much for "figuring out" how to smash mech.

Viper is a strong one but what about Ghost EMP? Are you going to out-micro the Terran player who have continuous scan to burn and EMP out-range Abduction? If you see the game between Maru-Reynor in IEM, you will see how Terran can render those Viper useless.

You will be suprised how quickly a BC deal damage to uncontested Roach/Ravager. And as long as Roach Ravager is kept from entering the main, more BCs will turn up and Zerg wont have anything to defend against BCs.

@@tigera6 you make a single banshee to defend against early roach pressure yes, you can't stop a nearly maxed roach army and you cant keep it from entering your base, especially if you go double armory and 3cc, you'd have no units at all except for your bc..If you defend the attack with your bc zerg has time to prepare at home and if you go on the offense your dead right away. You can't go full on tech macro and defend against a timing attack, that does not make sense.

@@vinnieg6161 Okay, then lets talk about the Roach Ravager all-in, which by Rogue timing at around the 8minute mark. If you go with BC mech, you already have a BC teleported over there way before that to get a free scout while dealing Drone damage, and forcing Zerg to make spores, which should delay the timing of the push. And you should be able to figure out if its coming and not to be greedy with your own build. Around the 8-minute should give Mech Terran 2 BCs with another one in the making, several Cyclone and a couple of Tanks off 3-4 factories. I think thats a holdable position against Roach Ravager with correct set-up, deny of Overlord high-ground vision, ect. . I am not saying BC Mech is unbeatable or something, but I just dont think they will die to Roach Ravager they same way that Rogue did to Maru in the recent GSL Finals.

Terran with marines and medivacs etc is so easy against Zerg. You just have to attack every Zerg base at the same time while also expanding behind, building units and micro the fights so banelings doesmt kill you.

tech units just need higher skill ceilings. Like if you could attach a medvac (disabling it's other abilities and ability to move) to a BC or a raven ability to heal it or if BC's had active trigger forcefields, or if thors had an overcharge mechanic kind of like stim. Or yamato cannon fired quicker but wasn't targeted and instead just hit a certain area, also it locked BC's into facing a direction and you coudl move while it was charging. If hellbats or helions did less dmg but their flames had a small push back or slow. If cyclones started with less movement but moved faster the longer they locked on, with a small cd after reaching max movespeed. Any of those to make mech a bit more micro focused and less full hit or miss.

Maru was so dead in the first game but Zerg didn't attack and so came back with a bang. Maru's early game was bad in the first two games.

You are wrong, because Zerg has no unit to attack even after the failed harrassment from Maru, who still has 1-2 BCs and more helion at home. Zerg can attack with Roach nor Ling, maybe if he already had banes with speed, but Ragnarok already switched to Muta to harrass instead. Maru indeed get terrible trade from the Helion runby, but he did enough damage with the BCs to slow Zerg down enough while making more unit at home.

@@tigera6 At 8 minutes he had 2 cyclones and 2 bcs, if Zerg A-moves with lings, mutas and some banes, I don't think he can hold or maybe it would be extremely close with mass repair but Maru would lose his entire army while opp has more production.

@ The Muta count wasnt high enough to fight the BCs, and Ling alone will just die to Helion, which can be made quite easily from the Factory. Bane would be great here but Zerg didnt have speed upgrade for them neither. And Ragnarok didnt have any ling count neither, his army supply at the 8th minute was 70% Muta and and 20% Queens.

Bio makes the game easier. Bio's ease of multi-pron attacks is just too much. It's not longer at the point where you can just build a cannon or two or a spore and spine to defend against. Medvac speed was just too much to give terran bio harass.

I mean sure Bio has pretty good dps, but the thing people forget is how fragile bio units are. With Good control like Maru here or Clem it can look "OP" but that is not the case. Bad control from a terran and it's a lost fight. You can build some static defense sure, but you need the actual counter for bio too... Aoe.

@@vajrayana4504 The thing is, bio is low cost and relatively quick to produce and can counter their counters through micro. Splits aren't that hard unless you're just not watching. Of course to do the best splits is somewhat a challenge but with skill levels equal the zerg won't split well either and the protoss won't micro disruptor shots to really follow. This advantage of bio is what forces terran mech to be so weak.

What kill Mech-style in TvZ is the lack of counter to spell caster like Viper/Infestor. Ghost is the ultimate counter to those units but you might not get them out in time if you play Terran Mech.
