I installed a 13 tooth front sprocket on my new CT125. Climbing ability improved noticeably, what surprised me is that my top speed increased from 85km/hr to 100km/hr, counterintuitive I know, had me stumped for a while but I figure being 100kg the 8hp engine didn't have enough power to fully utilise 4th gear whereas a 13t sprocket allows me enough torque to access the higher revs in 4th gear. Perhaps the 14t sprocket is ideal for the average 65 to 70kg Japanese or Thai rider, not heavy westerners like me.

i should know tomorrow if i can get one of these. but all bikes i rode with a chain i would spray the chain when i got home. that way i didn't sling it all over the bike. the pb blaster to me is good if the bike chain is trying to freeze up. but as soon as it gets free go to a chain lube.

Should be picking mine up with in a week, I will be doing mostly back roads, and seen that the Super Cub had more top end and they had a 14t/35t and the trail comes with a 14t/38t was wondering if I put the 35t on the trail if it would give me the top speed that the Super Cub has, and if it will still do hills. Will be using the Trail as a runabout ( going to the store or picking up gas for the lawn mowers and tiller. ect. ) I have the Honda CB 500X for highway trips, great bike but want something lighter for the short runs and gravel roads, and the larger caring weight of the back rack. Thanks for the Video but was looking for one on changing the rear sprocket.

Seems to be a bit boggy on big hills with higher gearing than stock. I think you'll like it the way it is for what you need it for. Best of luck to you! Thanks for watching!

Do they make (is there a) 15 tooth front sprocket that fits on these.?? You know, for us that don’t care how fast it Takes Off, but want it to get near 60 mph for traffic when you Have to be on a State road…
@PSBEadventures2 жыл бұрын
I think the 15 tooth would bog the little 125 so much it would never be able to get up to speed. Might be hard on the little clutch. The factory gearing is going to be about as high as I would recommend

I thought I have seen in one of your videos that you went to a diesel school maybe I heard wrong, are you a diesel mech.?? have a great day man.
@PSBEadventures3 жыл бұрын
Hey Gary, I went to Nashville Auto-diesel college. At the time it was the place to go. When you came out of training there you were certified in Gasoline and diesel engines, automatic and manual transmission light and heavy duty and all the fuel and ignition control systems for auto and heavy equipment. Very good school at the time. I've definitely worked on diesel many years ago but I ended up being an automotive technician. We mostly service GM, Honda and Toyota here at the shop. The school was great because you left with an associates degree in 11 months!

I was told the 14 may it give more top end speed but based on the lower power motor it’s hard to find the horsepower to make a speed difference. What have you noticed.
@PSBEadventures3 жыл бұрын
I noticed the top speed to be fairly close to the same, but the 13t really has the engine winding high. It definitely has its place on the trails and for deep sand
@denniscraig2193 Жыл бұрын
How much top speed did you gain with 14 tooth sprocket?
@PSBEadventures Жыл бұрын
Both sprockets have about the same top speed, the 13 just has a bit more rpm at the same speed

What’s the torque for the bolts on sprocket
@PSBEadventures4 ай бұрын
@natm3145 no idea. Too many years of gutentite (calibrated elbows) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 It won't be much though, they are only 6mm and only hold the washer in place so not much stress on them. Wouldn't be much over 5 or 6 ftlbs if guessing.

Just thought of another question, I am living in the desert in Arizona for now, do you know of a good dry lube for the chain, that won’t pick up all the dirt and dust?
@PSBEadventures3 жыл бұрын
Muc off makes some decent dry lube. Basiclly any dry lube with some teflon will do pretty good, but Muc off is a pretty tried and true lube. Here's you an affiliate link to some decently priced. amzn.to/3m0rwhC

What do you think about a passenger seat? I know in this country its rated for 45 Lbs, you think its worth the investment for some pegs and a seat, can this bike still be usable with two American sized people?

At close to top speed for a prolonged period, it would flash but reset when cycling the ignition. No issue off road at moderate speed

Quick question this is my first motorcycle since I was a teenager. What fuel do you use ethanol non-ethanol and what octane on the trail 125??
@PSBEadventures2 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on getting the bike. Definitely try to get non-ethanol if you can and 87 is fine. I run non-ethanol 90 in mine just because it's what my local station has. The compression ratio is low enough to run 87 as well. E10 is fine if you plan on riding a ton and keeping it fresh, but 100% pure gas is best. Thanks for stopping by the channel!
