Testing the 2021 Husqvarna TX300i. This bike has very smooth linier power that is great for our tight single track. The suspension has been upgraded for 2021 and the latest map update gives good throttle response. The Magura brakes are the weak point on the bike, I feel they do not work as well as the Brembo brakes on the KTM's. I am also not a fan of the composite subframe as they are much more prone to breaking. Thanks to Shawn www.shawnwatso... for letting me test the bike! Great video! I love my TX300i. It was definitely intimidating being my first 2-Stroke, but man its a great machine. Climbs hills like a tractor and plenty of power to get ya outta trouble!

You know what they say about opinions, so I’ll throw my 2 cents worth in for what it’s worth. I had a 2019 KTM 300 XCW and just bought a 2021 TX 300. As far as brakes go, I much prefer the Magura brakes over the Brembo. The Maguras are plenty responsive once the pads are broken in, but much easier to modulate than the Brembos. The Brembos on my XCW were like a light switch, either full off or full on. I like a responsive brake but the Brembos were so touchy they made the bike hard to ride in low traction situations. Also, the TX with the composite subframe sits noticeably lower than the XC with the aluminum subframe. Riders that are vertically challenged find this to be a noticeable advantage in the Husky’s favor.

I'm in Washington and ride similar areas. I sold a 20 KTM 300xc (someone wanted it badly) and purchased a 21 TE300I. The motor seems smoother on the Husky, but the brakes were definitely better on the KTM. I prefer the light clutch on the TE300I. Most all the newer European bikes seem to be good. The only map switch I've used on a 2 stroke that makes a big difference is the one on my Beta 200rr. I appreciate your videos.

@Daniel Bennett I slightly prefer the xc gearing, but with all the smooth power with either bike it's kinda a wash. High speed the air forks were better, but overall for woods riding I prefer the explorer's on the TE....very plush.

I would say your experience is spot on to mine with my 2021 Te300i. Haven't swapped to mousse yet. I am going to run out my original tires first. Then swap out. I did put a Slavens idle screw on mine. It idled a touch low and was prone to stalling at inopportune times. And, I had to crack the throttle to start it. I didn't care for the factory suggestion to use the air screw to adjust the idle. I think I might have raised it a couple of hundred RPM at the most, but it's in the sweet spot now. And, yes, be very careful with that composite subframe. I already cracked mine. Looped it a bit and when the rear fender caught it broke the inserts out that attach the rear fender. I just fixed it, but it's certainly a weak point. Especially riding in the rough stuff where it's easy to stand it up getting over an obstacle. I find myself being more aware of it than my KTMs. I wish it had the aluminum subframe. But, other than that, its by far my favorite bike I have ever owned. Suspension out of the box is great in our PNW terrain. I took it to California for a week to ride when I first got it. I found the rear rebound to be a little harsh on really packed rocky roads down there. But, that's usually just going between trails and it wasn't bad enough to stop and crank on it to ease the rebound.

@nas90tdi did you have to do any adjustment to the tps when you did the idle screw mod?
@nas90tdi
@nas90tdi 4 жыл бұрын
@@joejohnston471 No, you do not need to adjust the TPS. The bikes technically have an idle screw. It's just locked in place from the factory to meet some EU Emissions standards. Which leads to some of the bikes idling just a bit low. Slavens Racing or Tokyo Offroad channels both have good videos where they go into it in depth.

I just got a 2022 TX300 (one of only FOUR remaining for the whole year in my city; the shortages are crazy!). The suspension is quite stiff from the factory for its closed track spec. However, I found that 3 clicks towards the comfort configuration for compression solved that issue. Also, I highly recommend changing out the throttle guide plate (they include one in the goodies kit that has faster throttle response). My only complaint left is that the idle speed is very low and it is easy to stall. I don't trust the method provided in the manual to increase it (since it's not actually the idle screw). But, I've already put 10 hours on it in a week. It's a blast.

@PNWEnduro
@PNWEnduro 4 жыл бұрын
The 300 feels a bit heavier when riding in the tight trees due to more rotating mass but everything you do on a 300 takes a little less effort because it has so much more torque so I would say it will not wear you out more. It's less effort when you need to get the front wheel up and pivot with the 300 for example.

@@TravisE34 if you’re on the technical trails there is absolutely no comparison. The 300/250 XCW/XC or TE/TX are king of the mountain. I e ridden a bunch all over Utah. Every single time we’ve ridden in groups the riders on 4 strokes struggle hard. The ones on 450s are ready to throw them in the dumpster when we get back. The 300 2t just does everything effortlessly compared to the 4t’s. So nimble. It’s like having a mule and a mountain goat underneath you at all times. Will never have anything else. Only time I recommend a 350/450 4t is if someone needs wide open or long distance speed and won’t be doing any technical trail riding.

The 21's are now counterbalanced so it will be interesting to see how they compare to the Austrian bikes now.
