@@BigHeadClan That was my thinking when I bought my one yr old CPO '18 Q50 RS in Apr 2019, but now that I've had the car for 2 yrs I can say from experience that you do get really sick of the infotainment because you interface with it every time you drive the car and you become keenly aware of how behind the times and unsophisticated it is...it literally feels ten years older than the rest of the car, it's so bad compared to virtually anything else from any car manufacturer I can think of. I've had 2020 and 2021 Q50 loaner cars and CarPlay helps a lot but it's still more clunky than it needs to be. The iDrive in my 2013 335i that I had years ago was exponentially better than the InTouch system in my 2018 Q50RS. Infiniti needs to spend more money on R&D and make continuous improvements to stay relevant. There is a long list of improvements needed for the Q50/60, the infotainment is just one of them.

@@mholmes9262 I only use my infotainment about twice a year so I'm curious to hear what your using it for on a regular basis. Im admittedly a minority on that front however. Positive note it seems after market has a good replacement for the Nav at last and the Q50/60 should get a redesign next year.

I have never gotten compliments on my car until after owning a Red Sport. Now I constantly have people asking me questions and giving me compliments. Bottom line, drive what you like. It disappoints me seeing all of these negative comments. I COMPLETELY agree that the Q50 Red S is lacking in some parts such as cooled seats and a DCT. I personally had a 2013 G37x and absolutely loved it. I had high flow cats, exhaust, and intakes. Thing was a thrill to drive and handled great. Sadly someone hit me and the car was totaled. I looked mainly at the Audi s4 and Q50 Red S. Don’t get me wrong after test driving the b9 S4 versus my G37 I realized the G wasn’t all that fast lol. I loved the fully digital dash and DCT. But when I test drove a 2019 Q50 Red S I felt right at home coming from a G37. Infiniti is not always the best as far as updated design but they do know how to build a solid car. After putting the car in sport+ and flooring it I was sold. DO NOT buy these cars new I bought mine CPO and got a GREAT deal. I didn’t but my Q50 for cooled seats or a dual clutch transmission I bought it because I love JDM cars and love modifying them. After installing HKS downpipes, ARK catback, AMS heat exchanger, AMS intakes, Oil catch can, HKS blow off valves, Tune, and Hotchkis sway bars the car is an absolute animal. I beat s4’s when I was stock about a car or two but now it’s like 2 school busses. M340i’s, s5’s, s7’s are a walk in the park. This car is a 4 door Gtr just not stock lmao. When I decide to get upgraded turbos and run E85 were talking hellcat territory speed. If you are passionate about jdm or Infiniti in general I recommend this car. Just get one a couple years older and you will save a lot of money. Another thing is I’ve put 35k miles on my Q50 Red S and have had no issues as far as reliability, and let me clarify these miles were not grandma miles if you know what I mean. Also don’t get the bs assistance package with the digital adaptive steering it does not feel natural as many KZbin reviews have stated. Instead get the standard steering it is much much better. Again I completely understand where everyone is coming from about the features versus price. Sorry for ranting lmao it’s just that these cars are for a very specific buyer.
@danielortiz73293 жыл бұрын
Quick question boss... How do you know whether the car has digital adaptive steering or standard steering? (I don't know much about cars yet lol)
@bynjei25303 жыл бұрын
@@danielortiz7329 the direct adaptive steer (DAS) is a part of the ProActive Package. The benefit of having it is to have a smaller steering ratio and adjustable steering response (in its fastest setting, it is very sensitive and the it will literally move every ounce of movement, that’s why it’s adjustable which lots of reviewers misunderstand). If the car doesn’t have this package, it has the standard steering rack. Through personal experience of owning the 2019 Q50RS without the DAS and a 2015 Q50S 3.7 with DAS, I personally enjoy adjusting the weight and the response of the steering to my liking and it does get good feedback from the road.

If you're thinking about getting one: You'll never pay msrp for these cars, 20% off is easy and means it leases well despite the low residual car is silent without the infiniti exhaust, some form of exhaust is a must have. Seems like this is the non resonated version given the drone, they make a resonated one For the normal person I think the transmission is a perfect balance. It won't smack gears like a dct or even zf but it's super smooth during normal drives, always downshifts hard, and in sport+ shifts really quick on its own. Just programmed to upshift safe at lower rpms The acoustics of the q60 are different, but the bose was awesome and I've had a bunch of factory or upgraded sound systems Despite conventional wisdom that these are more reliable than the Germans I had not the best run with mine. Bad turbo, common for them to fail. Covered under warranty, but if planning to mod something to be mindful of. Plenty of folks don't have any issues, check out the forums

I really don't understand why this car gets so much hate? 400 horsepower, legitimately fun to drive, and you can pick one up for a bargain. What exactly is "dated" about the interior? The fact that the screen takes 1/3 of a second to respond whereas newer cars can do it in 1/4 a second? This car still has plenty of modern tech, good styling, they are fast as hell, they make more power than an M340i for the same price. Not to mention they are offering huge discounts on these. The quilted leather is gorgeous and the interior has great build quality. I really hate this narrative that auto journalists follow...one person says it's dated, horrible, terrible car not worth buying and everyone else follows suit.

Rarely updated and awful reliability for a Japanese automaker doesn’t exactly exude luxury. Great review! Hey Tropher, just wanted to point out that this one you reviewed DID NOT have the steer-by-wire. It’s an option and the one you’re sitting in does not have it (only steer-by-wire with the proassist/ proactive package). Also, the drive modes through the bottom screen is only activated when you’re in personal mode in the drive mode selector. Sport + is the same as sport mode except it lowers the amount of computer traction input. I agree the standard steering rack (the non steer-by-wire just like the one in this video) is a bit wonky, but the steer-by-wire in the proassist package is adjustable by steering feedback throughout the bottom screen and is actually very responsive and very fast or you could even have it slow and heavy, all up to you. Personally, I wouldn’t get the AWD model as it understeers and isn’t as scary lol. I have a 2015 Q50 Sport 3.7 VHR and my dad has the 2019 Q50RS without the performance exhaust. Got it for a great deal. I agree, do NOT pay more than 55K for this car. Infiniti is very persuadable and they are very negotiable for a cheap ass deal, that’s the main reason people buy this over an AMG or a 340i.

I don't really care for Apple Play or use the navigation system. I just mount my iPhone and use what I need there, no biggie for me. It is also a sleeper car. You can be lowkey on the roads, people don't know how fast this car goes. Then comes a Bimmer boy challenging you, they'll know how fast it is lol. Again, value wise - definitely go with something else. But if you don't mind paying for the aesthetics and speed, maybe you can consider this. For my next car, I doubt I'll go with Infiniti again. I'm looking at a Caddy CT5 a few years down the road.

Rented a Q50 3.0t AWD and the car can't drive straight on the highway at all - one of the most annoying things I've experienced in a car. Almost makes it seem like I'm driving drunk and can be a burn especially at night. My volkswagen jetta has more feedback than this infinity, the Q50 has an awesome motor nonetheless and I'd still consider the red sport for sleeper speed but my god wtf infiniti fix yo shit.

I have a QX60 and this is my exact complaint. The car is simply all over the place. I've heard that Infiniti cars are very sensitive to the types of tires that are on them and they also come out the factory with not so great tires. That being said, I put a brand new set on my QX60 and had it aligned....and the damn thing still wanders away from me like an untrained puppy, on the expressway. Very annoying. I love the sounds the car makes. The audio system sounds great and the engine is strong and sounds good as it howls through the gears...but that handling is a deal breaker. I'm probably going to sell my QX next summer and go back to BMW. Their cars stay in the service dept, but when they are in working order they are outstanding cars. Even their low end models.

No-one pays MSRP for one of these. Infinti regularly whores these things out with $4k-$8k off. Right now there is a factory rebate for $4500 off this month, and dealers will discount this another 5%-10% normally. The few offers I got, none were over 48k for one. Honestly when the car came out it was time for a refresh. I had the 2014 Infiniti Q 50 S hybrid and the infotainment was the same except it probably crashed a little bit more, the smart driving features tried to steer me sideways into another car because it read the road as an obstacle, the 360 camera and back up camera were just as low res and at night you couldn’t see on the side of the car in the cameras. I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it and honestly I didn’t have it very long. It is a hodgepodge.
