Apple needs to work on how they advertise some of their colors, I know a lot complained about how light and pastel Sierra Blue looked during the Apple event and in real life it’s definitely not as harsh. Same goes for the Starlight color option for the iPad. I went with Space Grey because Starlight looked a bit too gold for my liking. And in reality it leans more towards silver. Lol

It’s weird that they make sure their screens reproduce colors correctly, but when it comes to promo pics of their products, it’s just, “Eh, whatever.” Some of the colors do change a lot depending on the light, but they know that so I’d expect them to account for it. With their vast wealth, they can surely afford a few more photos!

@@ColinTedford It's extremely frustrating. You never quite know what you're looking at until you either see it in person or you see an unboxing/review video. I've gotten to the point where I generally hold off on pre-orders for this reason. I'm still baffled why they don't account for this. Last year's Product Red iPhone 12 ended up being more like a salmon color than it did red. And there were a few iPad mini videos I've seen where I thought I was looking at a Starlight Mini due to the silver tones and they later revealed it was the pink iPad. 😂

The only time I'd go for a iPad pro for college is if you're a student that'd benefit from the 120hz display or would benefit from the extra performance. For anyone else an iPad Air or mini would make more sense. Personally went with the new iPad mini but other students may benefit from iPad Air's larger screen.

@@Swimfinz I still have it and since it was my first tablet of any kind, it made me realise all the tings I could use it for. I did upgrade to an iPad air because it turned out I needed screen space more than portability. My wife now has the mini and she absolutely loves it, takes it anywhere and even uses it as an aid when teaching her students. I’d say it’s the perfect device to bring with you for work, travel and what have you. If it mostly lives at home, then better go for a larger device. Performance wise it’s great, no complaints.

I feel the price in comparison with the are almost same, the IPad Pro still holds water compared to 2021 iPads and I feel there isn’t much size difference between the giant iPhone 13pro max and an iPad mini. I’m an iPad Mini fan but for my use (fun/work) I believe the basic iPad is a better option specially because of the price tag. My daily driver is a 4G iPad 8th Gen and it rocks. I also have a Mini 4 but it’s starting to get a little sluggish. The new Mini price tag is a little hefty although understandable due to the new design and innovations.

Now that this ipad has lte and5g and the A15, why not just buy this over the iPhone 13 series. It is cheaper and you do get more screen. For calls you could probably get by with a wireless earbuds of sort. I mean who even takes calls that much these days... it just might not fit in your pocket, that is an issue

Greetings. A fine review but I'm left with one huge complaint - the usual one to literally ALL the reviewers of the iPad Mini, none excluded. It's not about camera lenses, or gaming, or note taking with 2nd gen pencils. It's about what an absolutely amazing PRODUCTIVITY BEAST the iPad Mini has become for writers. Writers, not pencil-wielding note-takers, TODO list compilers, PDF annotators, but writers of novels, screenplays, scholarly treatises, translations, lawyerly briefs, etc. Did you know that many text editing operations are now faster on an iPad Mini than a regular computer? Ask, and I will prove it to you. For writers, regarding electronic devices there is an inescapable dichotomy. A) Chair and Table B) Freedom For A) we are spoiled for choice: desktops, laptops, notebooks, big and medium sized tablets that require external keyboards. For B) it is my contention that there is ONLY the iPad Mini. The small Androids are okay for content retrieval and games, but horrible for writing/editing. The bane of writing on handheld flatscreen was the need to move mini-handles. Well as of some time already, for formatting selection is no longer necessary. But surprise! Selection is no longer necessary for deletion (which is the soul of editing). Now where folks can fire off tweets or WhatsApps, legit writers can work on their texts. BTW consulting dictionaries (for language translations, synonyms, etc.) is also faster on the iPad Mini than regular computers! So, what reviewers don’t know, is that Alpinists 4000 meters up, inside dangling rope tents, or folks convalescing on hospital beds, or harried parents waiting in cars for their kids to get out of school... can edit texts faster using their whip-‘em-out-anywhere gizmos than Bill Gates seated at a proper computer.

Can you discuss the benefits and or drawbacks of having a cellular iPad vs. A WiFi only model? A lot of reviewers talk about how tethering off your phone is ideal to save money. But is performance, speed and reliability of doing that method better/easier than buying just a cellular model?

The cellular model will give a better experience than tethering (faster, more convenient, doesn’t use up your phone’s battery), but it’s so much more expensive - not only the extra $150 for the tablet but also the cost of an extra data plan every month. Depending on your plan it could as much as double your phone bill. Many people can’t justify the cost for a convenience they’ll only use sometimes when they already have an OK workaround.

@@ColinTedford That’s the hard trade off I’m trying to justify. I have Verizon and it’s an extra $20 a month. Having said that, for 2 years with unlimited data (through my current plan) Verizon gives back $200 if you get the cellular.
