It had a shorter gear ratio and more power than the x5 40i, but still not quicker. Looks like bmw really up their game when it comes to performance

@@v12-s65 More realistic it has 379 hplike the bmw 340iman, the gearbox calibration and engine response just better. But this car is great to look at.

@@stefanmolnar4345 well yes I believe the Jag makes at least 380hp because I've seen the Range Rover Velar accelerate quite quickly to 260km/h with this engine, so yeah the top speed is higher than in an X5 40i

They ruined This car, the old engine sounded so much better and was quicker as well. And the rev hang 🤦🏼 they need to seriously fix this if they wanna sell more cars.

So ur telling me this car has 100kw more than BMW X3 30D F25 and the 0-100 time is 0.25 (BMW 0-100 5.9 secs) slower than the bmw ….

We find it strange as well. Either there’s more to the BMW than meets the eye or something is lagging in the Jag’s driveline. The F-Pace is pretty heavy for the class - about 120kg heavier than the old X3 - but that’s not enough. In our opinion, it’s probably due to the transmission calibration. This might be set up to cater for off roading more than others, or designed to be smoother. We also notice the BMW allows you to build the revs right up high on the brake, building boost, so it really leaps off the line. This certainly feels just as quick in all other areas though. Hope that helps.

I've noticed this with many of JLR products. They produce good power and torque figures but this doesn't seem to translate well in 0-100 times. Take the Velar V8 - it produces 405KW and 680Nm while the X3 M competition produces 375KW and 600Nm, yet the X3 is still 0.63 seconds quicker according to pdrive tests. Sure the Velar is 100KG heavier, but it should at the very least match the BMW 0-100 time with it's extra 30KW and 80Nm.

@@lamborghini0610 yep. You can't compare to bmw since they're the only car maker who puts launch control into normal cars. But with JLR you won't notice the difference to other cars when driving it normally. I own an Evoque and its 180hp feel like 180hp, even after 177'000km now. It has a good punch when I'm already in gear. But off the line it always takes like an extra second to get the things moving, which is weird, but I guess that really comes from the off-roady setup. Anyway, diesels do the better job here and I honestly don't care that much about taking off from a standstill. 60-110 test says a lot more, because the engines itself are really powerful, wish they'd put in a dual clutch

Probably de- tuned so it won't blow up or transmission fall out while in warranty ( if your lucky )

I think this one might’ve been a lemon or having a bad day because it’s slower than it should be numbers considered and the hesitation as it came off the line the first time didn’t look right. However I’d still buy this over the BMW because in every day use it wouldn’t feel any different and the total package including the superior styling and noise of that straight 6 would definitely win me over.
