'Uploaded 3 minutes ago' spams title to load video. I often see an ICE Soul a block down; never could stop being amazing. This; a modern SUV face with some aggression to a unique car for some not-your-average appearance. Let the Koreans, the Chinese, the Asians in general come to us. Let them make our car manufacturers rethink all they sank into (in terms of looks, of technology .. of everything). Thanks, Matt!

Owned one since April 20 (in that neptune blue) and love it. Best review I've seen and agree with all of it. The Niro is the sensible choice (and is replacing the Prius as the Uber driver's car for London) but I'd have the Soul every time!

I bought this car for my partner 6 months ago and she really loves it. That was a pretty fair review actually and I can't disagree with anything said except the ''whisper quiet'' part ...sure it's not noisy on the road but there certainly quieter cars out there...at a price of course. The range is brilliant and 250 miles on a single charge is easy with normal everyday driving. The Soul is a great choice for anyone looking to venture into the world of EV's !!.

Time for car park spaces to be made wider, we might get less dings in the doors from careless drivers who don't give a hoot as they have a company car. It would help if people parked in the center of the bay and parallel to the lines.

Great video Matt. Totally agree on the subject of Lane Assist. My wife and I test drove a new Hyundai I10 last week which had LA. We both didn't like it and went for a new I20 Element (base model) which doesn't have it instead. Interesting point about the width of the Kia. When will councils, supermarkets etc realise that even most supermini cars fill up the parking bay and that they need to be made wider?

I've owned since July and it's a great car and would recommend it in the blink of an eye, also one of the better reviews. Just two small criticisms as opposed to the European variant it does not come with a center arm rest in the back, and you must pay for map updates £40 approx..

Great review and lovely car, very tempted to get one of these for next car, be great for daily driver and going on my Camping trips with mountain bike in back with seats folded down, plenty range, it's 120 miles to campsite I go to and 120 back so enough range plus it's summer months I go so warmer temps , I reckon driving this car at 50 mph on a summer's day you could get well over 300 miles range, definitely on my shortlist this Kia soul especially in blue , to me this looks like all the car you need, it's quirky an good looking,spacious,good range, fun and quick and quality looks excellent too 👌👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I have a '21 Soul EX (US still sells the gas model) and it's surprisingly nice. I'm still finding little easter eggs (pleasant, unexpected features), the ride is great and the seats are wonderful. And after negotiation, it was cheap! The purchase was in February and I'm quite sure it could no longer be found for the price I paid for it. I don't think the gas version, at least not the no-turbo models, have IRS. Pretty sure it's torsion beam, but the ride is decent.

I assume you currently drive to a petrol station to fill your car up Chris? Why couldn't you use a public charging station, or a charger at a supermarket when you buy food? I take it you do buy food? Tesco are installing free chargers at 400 of their stores in the UK, and some Sainsburys, Ikea, LDL and others have free charging too.... It's about adapting a little bit to use what there is available. There are plenty of people on here who don't have home charging, but have an EV.....the only obstacle is your mindset Chris. If you wanted to make it work, you could. Plus it's a continuously improving situation, with more chargers being installed all the time. The total number of UK charging connections is set to rise from 26'000 to 190'000 by 2030, and all will have contactless payment facilities. Take a look on ZapMap to see where your nearest chargers are. There may be some you are not aware of....

Great review! Kia actually quote a WLTP range of 280 miles and this is attainable as I regularly exceed it. Kia seem to be one of the few manufacturers that are pessimistic with their range. Conditions affect this of course but it is still a very efficient car. The only negative I have is the 77kw/h charging speed, however this is offset somewhat by the amazing efficiency. The 0-60 time of 7.6sec is also pessimistic as testers using sat equipment have got lower 7sec times so this is a quick car for it's size and cuboid shape. I love it for the ride which manages to be firm but cushioning at the same time, the huge array of equipment and tech for the price - literally everything is thrown in on the First Efition, the amazing sound system that refuses to distort when pumped up and the sheer fun of the drive which always gives a buzz with the speed and well controlled chassis for a tall car. Keep up the good work. 👍

The Soul is the polar opposite to the terminally dull ID3. This is fun, adventurous with so many interesting design touches whereas the VW is dreadfully boring, slabby and so VAG-generic. The interior is lovely on the Kia as familiar whereas the ID3 with it’s ridiculous touch sensitive buttons is flawed. The Kia interior is definitely in Lexus territory for design touches too. Electric cars: all very well and good, but my house was built in the 50's with no garage. Who's paying for my charging station, and what kind of security is there sitting outside. The office building was built in 2000; no chargers in the garage and the owner would not be inclined to put them in (if they did presumably tenants would absorb the cost I'd guess) So, apart from driving to the grocery store and sitting there while the car charges (and possibly waiting for someone to depart the space) these cars have no present utility for me. But sure, let's mandate them. Looks cool though.

This is the car I have been eying for some time, becoming a member of a Facebook owners group and reading through their site has produced some smaller items to think of, now that covers older models as well I do hope Kia has solved some issues? The car has a 12V battery that it uses for instrumentation connecting the large battery and such, this seems to have either been of a lower quality or it's charging program wrong as many has had to start the car with a powerpack despite the driving battery being fully charged. That upper reflex and brakelight ramp has been cracking at the narrower width by the washerfluid nozzle, maybe a looser mount would not stretch the plastic when the temperature differs and extend/retract the chassie. There are those who makes a box for the charging cable instead of the plastic cover over the motor, easy to access when your booth is filled with stuff. But over all I like the model, being 196cm and 190kg I can place the front seat for comfortable drive and still fit behind "myself" . I am still interested in leasing one, it is too expensive for a carguy who only have 20 year old cars, but as I get older and don't fancy repairing my junk by myself any more I think the included service and insurance really makes it an interesting way into the future!

12m08s: Other advice: Beware of any car being driven by someone wearing a hat, they are generally amongst the worst drivers on the road. Cars need to stop getting wider, for those of us who still use garages, it's getting almost impossible to get out of the car when you put it in the garage

There is actually a video on KZbin Chris, of a guy who gingerly drives his car into his garage, with what looks like about 2 inches to spare at each side of the car. He has to line up the passenger door of the car with the door which leads from the garage to the house, and enters the house via that door. He can only open the door and exit the car once the door into the house has been opened, otherwise he cannot open the car door on the passenger side!

@Dr.SkullScience77

This feels like an ad feature more than a review. For a vehicle of this size it is really necessary to show its long-range ability. This is were most EVs run into trouble in the UK, as the network is patchy at best. Drivers are petrified of having fun in these vehicles as the power drain could land them in trouble due to the weak infrastructure and very long charging times. There is even a term used within the industry now as 'range anxiety'. Small Evs are great around the city and urban sprawl where there is a choice of outlets but when looking for a vehicle, such as this, for the long haul... not so much. Official figures show that there are more publicly available charging points in London than in the rest of the enitirety of England's counties. Then there is the environmental issue of increased wastage and trace/heavy metal toxins. It just feels we are not quite there yet.
@Brian-om2hh
@Brian-om2hh 2 жыл бұрын
Very long charging times? I charged my Kia up in 50 minutes during a 520 mile round trip. And I didn't wait around while it charged either. I ate a nice lunch in a nearby pub. The app on my phone let me know when the charge was nearing completion. I suggest you watch the video posted by a Scottish Tesla owner. He videoed his entire journey from his home in Scotland, to his holiday cottage in Cornwall, a distance of 620 miles in total. He stopped to charge just twice during the journey. The first time for 65 minutes, and the second time for 25 minutes.......He did use some of his free charging entitlement, but had to fork out £13 for the additional charge. I suggest you look at ZapMap to see the coverage of charge points in the UK, rather than "Official" figures.... There are around 8 EV chargers in my nearest town - a smallish town in the Lake District - plus they are also beginning to appear at places like village halls and guest houses and small hotels in my area. You may also like to note that a large contract is now underway to increase the number of public charge connections in the UK, from 26'000 to 190'000 by 2030.
@Dr.SkullScience77
@Dr.SkullScience77 2 жыл бұрын
@@Brian-om2hh Charging time is a major stumbling block. 50 minutes is a huge amount of time in an average persons working day. And that is when there are no hiccups. This channel shows the huge problems and shows how angry he was even when not pressed for time when just small things go wrong. Look at Petrol Ped channel with the MG ZS EV. A prime example of how even cold weather has an impact as well as mobile apps and types of charging point. This does not iinclude average issues like road traffic incidents and accidental wrong turns. Range anxiety is real. Now many long distance drivers will require multiple charges in a single day on an average EV. What if there is someone in the charging point ahead of you? The infrastructure is light years behind what it requires to be for a mass change to EV. I am happy for you that 50 minutes of precious time is so easily accepted!

They have managed to convince the dumb masses that they owe FAKE debt and own things when in FACT it is the ALL UPPER CASE name - CAPITIS DIMINUTIO - on the bank card, driving licence etc etc that owns everything that they think that they own. The masses are so easy to sucker because they NEVER use their brains to question everything that they are being told.

@@planestrainsdogsncars4336 Your fears will be realised. Hydrogen will never be a cheap option. It has to be produced, then transported to where it is sold. Electricity needs no transportation.
