People fail to realize just how fast new cars really are, even base models. Often the 4 cyl. turbos and v6's in your average car run high 13's to low 14's stock. The truck in my avatar ran 12.0's 10 years ago and was a gutted shell that you wouldnt want to drive more than a few hours. Today you can buy a slightly optioned stock car thats faster.

They’re a hell of a car, no doubt, I just wished they did more of the original Mach styling like they did with the 03-04s. Amazing how fast cars are and what you can buy now. The late 60s early 70s were always considered the golden era of muscle cars but I don’t think that’s true anymore. Great vid by the way!

Can you imagine the e.t.'s if you could give it a 10 minute tune up! Shame it's a thing of the past but luckily it looks like Ford has been optimizing things pretty well. And yes, even a dealer installed "Drag Pack" on a GT would be a hell of a thing.

@@jamiebaker5358 they are basically the same car. So what more do you expect from a 2019 gt and 2021 mach 1 both with coyotes? Only thing they really change from the gt to the mach 1 is the manual transmission options the exhaust the gt350 intake and suspension. Basically it's a little extra hp from the gt350 intake. So they are basically get of rid of the gt350 and pp2 to merge it into one car. So your 11.78 and this car is gonna do that and a little faster. So I dont see how you are saying it isn't that impressive. That's like saying your gt isn't impressive. With weather it's going to be a little bit quicker than a gt. But this is the handling mustang now. One you can take out with the better manual or 10r80 and enjoy on a road course and drive home.

People already get 10s with drag packs and a little suspension on there Mustang GTs. This is meant to be more of the handling car. So if you are gonna just do drag racing go with the gt. Toss the gt350 intake on and drag pack etc go boosted and go 8s and 9s without ever opening the motor

Could be, but the mustang makes peak torque at 4500. Anything beyond that would lose time (assuming it can put all 420 lb-ft down at once).

Decent runs. I ran an 11.4 @117 in my wife’s Tesla 3 performance with 85% state of charge I know different day and track but electric cars are unaffected by DA No doubt the Mach 1 is more fun to drive, especially with the manual.

It’s because you have a Performance. The Dual Motor+power boost (one in this video) is around .4-.5 tenths slower than the full on Performance.

The M3P is still a lot quicker from a dig and low roll. 1/4 mile trap speed within 1 mph of each other, highway roll very close, negligible difference really. Ford stock convertors are pretty tight. 1800 RPMs on the launch is all your going to get. As an old drag racer 1800 seems absurd but the Mach 1 is an honest 11 second car but for 60K it better be. I would like to see a factory drag pack, just like the old days

The tesla owner mentioned long range (4.5sec). So with the new tune aoftware update it may bring it down a little more. No friggin way it would have been anywhere close to the model 3 performance as that thing should be around 3.3sec to 60 but the mach 1 is still very impressive but the performance model 3 would have eaten the mach 1 alive.

I own one of those Teslas. It's the AWD long range with the acceleration boost. They can do 3.7 0-60 easily with that add-on. Many run about 11.8 in the quarter. Performance also depends on how charged the battery is.

Nice job, good video. The Mach 1 did well considering it was built to be a track car as opposed to a drag-strip car. I normally lower the rear tire air to 22 psi and the front to 24 psi.

@@kevinbreese5739 there are a few parts of the gt350 and gt500. Intake, throttle body and manifold are taken from the gt350. Mach 1s also have oil, tranny and rear diff cooler and the rear end from the GT500. Not even close to the stock GT my friend. Pretty much could slap a Snake on this car. This coming from a Mach 1 owner. Also the power was not rated correctly for the Mach 1s. I’ve seen guys dyno slightly over 500hp with just a resonator delete and new intake filter. I love the GTs also but the setup is not the same. Just same motor. Add the tremec and it’s a steal of an 11sec car out of the box at 55k, which is what I paid.

Was it an 3LR? I am doing drag racing with my 3P, but I have put on it superlight rims (4kg saved rotatinal mass per corner). ALso I have kw v3 coilovers, new alignment, dropped car a lot. So I have gained even more accelleration.

Why are people interested in this? EV's are quicker! Simple that’s it!. But if you are looking for your connection to the road and the roar of an engine in your ears, you drive a mustang or muscle car! History has man/women eager to drive anything that makes a noise and goes fast, Adrenalin pumps and it’s a thrill. This will be lost. Put simply. EV's are the future, but your connection to the road will be lost, you might as well sit in the back and be chauffeur driven. In years to come, cars like this will be lost for ever, enjoy them while we can. Just imagine going to watch a car race in the future? What will you hear and smell?? Drop the Tesla vibes concentrate on these amazing cars!! I would rather watch these V8's than anything else Any competition should include the 3 points system and in this order. 1. Noise: (has to sound great) the thrill! Feeling the engine rock 2. Handling: hitting cnrs at unbelievable speeds and listening to the engine scream as the wheels lose traction 3. Speed: fast ( matched with screaming v8) stereo

Most EVs are very limited on top end performance, with the exception of a few models, not sure why this is. I know it’s a software fix like most ICE cars, but one can’t help but wonder what the actual capabilities are before the motor actually burns itself out or the battery overheats. I wonder if they’ve tested them to the max before determining where to govern them.

It’s because EVs use a single speed gearbox, at high speeds, electric motors start reducing power and can’t shift back into the powerband like ICE. A multi speed gearbox on EVs would solve that issue, but most don’t want to add the extra cost /complexity to an EV. It’s effectively “good enough” for most buyers as it is

@@revanevan not impressive against a family sedan. That's my point. If you're trying to eek out a win against a family hauler, the cache of a fast muscle is quickly diminished and almost laughable. I started with 428cj 'Stang and was 100% on the Muscle Car Craze...till 1972. I missed those cars. But when I drove the 2019 Honda Insight and then the Tesla3 twin motor, I had a total epiphany: "Gas powered sports cars are done". My next and last sports car will be a Mazda Miata-E in about 5 years, or so. I don't want to be that Blacksmith in 1900 saying, "They ain't never gonna stop needing the horse as primary transportation. Cars are only a novelty".

Technology and progress doesn’t stand still. We now have multiple “affordable” 11 sec car options from the factory. It will only get better from here. Just a note, there is not an emissions trade off for adding horsepower to an EV… we will soon see production 1,000+hp electric cars, which won’t happen with ICE only vehicles (save for Bugatti).

Very similar to my old drag race days in early 2000s ( before kids ) to when the old guys would show up with brand new corvettes and just put it in D and slam the pedal... Comps do everything now ... and Auto trans does the rest.
