I agree with the comments here. The thing with Aespa is that they're performing just like any other music show, so there's nothing special with their performances for the award shows. I felt disappointed and underwhelmed with their performance for the AAA Awards too. I thought maybe they were too busy to prepare a special stage, but I don't know if that was the case. It was just a normal performance, but it's not the girl's fault. SM needs to do more for the girls and let them deliver a special stage. This performance is just like for a music show, and for this award show they should have done more and better.

Silence, Aespa fans just found out they don't sing live. I loved their debut but their fans acting like idiots saying "they're so stable omg" and pretending they were actually singing on TV distanced me from them. Good look trying to pretend it wasn't a playback too, maybe they feel so nervous they can only sing in recorded performances? They're great and the girls are funny, but they aren't big as people painted and it started to show up.

I'm MY and I'm very well aware of fact they don't sing live and I have no problem admitting something isn't live, because I know they're extremely talented. They shared their studio recording, had 2 encore stages,sang on variety shows and they even sang live during fan calls. Therefore I can't blame them for not singing live but SM entertainment. As well as really poor stage for an event like this. However I can blame them for lack of stage presence here, they can do way better. I do understand that everything is probably still overwhelming for them and they are probably aware this wasn't preformance for awards show but they need to do better. Hopefully both girls and SM entertainment will do better and show why they're this big.

Probably not all of their vocals are live but they’re definitely singing for some of the parts. Some of the notes are slightly different from the audio track. Plus winters voice doesn’t “growl” in the second pre chorus which is on the audio track.

I was curious about the group that won Best Dance Performance so I came here to watch Aespa's performance. I was expecting more from this group to be honest. I don't understand why they aren't even allowed to sing live when Aespa's vocals are insanely incredible. Savage is a great song but only watching the same choreography is boring. SM should have given them some backup dancers and an amazing dance break. SM seems to be more focused on their avatars and overall their virtual concept rather than the quality of their performances. I'm neither Midzy nor MY but it's obvious to the vast majority of people that ITZY deserved that award. We should blame MAMA for having an absurd criteria for Best Dance Performance since they only take into account the digitals and Korean charts rather than the quality of the performances. I think there should be unbiased experts who can vote objectively on the best performances of the year rather than just looking at the digital scores.

@@JisuChaer it has been there for years, the criterias better now since they raised the judges votes from 30 to 40% and removed the fanvotes. Imagine the amount of songs the judges have to watvh if its purely judge based. They can't rely on the nights performance only but how the song and the dance performed the whole year. So they can't remove the digital and global music category. A 60-40 charts-judges percentage is good in my opinion And from the predictions If not aespa, twice will win this

Now, what was that performance? After the ae's appearance, I didn't even realized I had completely drifted off. I absolutely LOVE Savage, the choreography, the performance, I watched them (still do sometimes) religiously during their promos, sometimes more than once and I never got bored. But today Karina and Giselle were so not their usual self, they were so dull, so low energy. They must be exhausted from flying back and forth from Korea to the US, but this is MAMA, even if the show has gotten progressively worse throughout the years, for idols it's still THE dream to be invited to perform. Many groups are out there doing an amazing job for 2~3~4 years and never got even nominated. Aespa just debuted and is already performing and they deserve it, they had an amazing year, they're making history and... That's the performance we get from them? Nearly zero stage presence. And it's not just about the girls, it seems like SM put all their effort in special effects, but didn't think of anything else for the girls' performance other than their entrance ( Naevis' portal was nice, Black Mamba was nice) and the Ae's, but I guess the budget was spent on Black Mamba, because the Ae's looked like they were characters from a 90's video game today. I swear, I was expecting some dance break, some break, some interaction with their avatars of Black Mamba itself, maybe Naevis, or just the usual changing in arrangement, a mash-up with Next Level and Black Mamba?... I don't know something other than just... Performing the song like if they were on a Music Show, not even their outfits scream "Awards Show", they look like something they'd wear for Music Bank.

It's like jyp payed for their (itzy&stray kids) group's stage decoration, back up dancers, actor and other required stuff. And SM entertainment payed for the award (the award aespa won 'best performance award). I came from itzy's MAMA performance video where in the comments section someone mentioned that itzy deserved that award but aespa won it. In the replies for that certain comment many midzys talked badly about aespa's performance. I have never seen midzys talking so harshly about other groups. So i thought of seeing aespa's performance video. SM entertainment is really doing aespa dirty. Like come on, this is once in a year stage for your idols. Put some damn efforts for their performance. All the member's aura really suit their group's concept and they really have good amount of potential. I am not aespa fan but i have heard that aespa's vocalist is one of the best vocalist in 'fourth generation' girl groups, and yet still how could you always let them lip sync for most of the performances to make it as a major scandal for their early/debut years.
