It's amazing the difference Mazda has made with their cars in the last few years. I had a 2014 Mazda6 base trim (the only way to get a manual) and last week upgraded to this hatchback with the 2.5L premium non-turbo trim (again - only way to get a manual). While the 6 was very reliable and enjoyable to drive, The difference in comfort, features, and interior quality was astounding with the new car.

If you need lane keep assist in a car, then you definitely should not have a drivers license. I can't believe we are at a point in humanity where a driver can't keep a car straight within a lane on a highway. Like seriously WTF are you doing behind the wheel then?
@vroomgc
@vroomgc 4 жыл бұрын
@@GrayFox370 I would agree for cars like Tesla, cause its just keeps going and that can be dangerous and drivers should always be 'driving'. Some manufacturers like Volkswagen have a 15 second only assistance that warns you to take the wheel. I think of it as a way to keep you a bit safe in case you took your eyes off the road for whatever reason or even starting dozing off.. To me that is ok. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ61m2moqLedY8U

I think that Mazda is doing the right thing by going for the more upscale market where they have a chance at competing. If they could squeeze a bit more horsepower out of this engine say 280-290 on premium and 250-260 on regular,they would have a even more unique proposition,that and quicken the shifts on the transmission. I like the styling and see a bit of Alfa Romeo in their design language.

Personally i have 2 autos and a cvt car. Honestly the cvt is better for general driving. The autos are really only better for merging and accelerating fast. If its a city car or a long road trip car i would prefer a cvt. Better mileage and smoother power delivery. If you have a lot of merging from highway to highway i would go with a standard auto. It all depends on your commute. As for reliability, the cvt is holding up with no issues at 100k miles

2021 Mazda 3 GX Sport owner here. The issue you have with the channel list being hard to navigate. You can give the command through AI to play a specific channel or tune you like from your phone so that is the shortcut instead of rolling all the way down the list. Works for XM well. Only con i don't like about the car is the physical visibility but all models have the same safety systems such as blind sport monitoring to help with this. I love it :) Interior is so upscale and probably the best interior to be in compared to any base models on the market today. It's so ergonomic too requiring next to no thought to select or do what you want to do. Highly recommend the base model! Even got the fuel rating down to 5.9L/100km on the highway so far.

@@vincentv1790 I did get mine Oct 2019, it was manufactured around July. I'm leasing my car. Right off the bat, I had one recall that involved a possible sudden emergency stop auto activating while on the highway. Only one or a couple cases of this happening, but due to the severity of this glitch, I'm glad they recalled them and fixed that promptly. Also, when I bought my car the dealership already fixed an earlier recall where the rear view mirror had issues coming lose. Later, I had to take my car in for another recall that involved the possibility of a scenario where you could lock the key fob inside the car. Lastly, I had to bring my car in for another "recall", not really one, but Mazda had a software update on my system that enabled a new feature in my car for free. They gave my car the ability to remote start, unlock/lock and turn lights on/off through my smartphone app for Mazda. No other recalls aside from the two I had to take it in for, that rear-view mirror one, and that complimentary connected services feature. Not bad for a new generation on a car model. Now for quality issues, I've had issues with the weather seals on the driver and passenger front doors. They started tearing and sticking when opening and closing the doors. They fixed it and haven't had issues since. That's it for me. Never had to pay a penny.

I've driven manual FWD my whole life, and my new M3 manual 6 FWD is by FAR the best at handling snow (all seasons) of all the cars I've driven. Holds straight (backend stays in line better). I've found during hard acceleration from stop that it doesn't jump around (stays grounded) better than my other FWD's. I got the polymetal gray and it's such a nice color. Just discovered Mazda and glad I did. Best car I've ever owned.

Consumer Reports has repeatedly mentioned how awkward the Mazda infotainment system can be, requiring multiple actions to make what should be a simple change. You are the first reviewer I've seen to actually demonstrate this. Yes, it does show a surprising lack of foresight in this regard, though - considering how well the rest of this Mazda is designed - it shouldn't be a deal-breaker.

This is a great review! I've been looking for a thorough review of this car inside and out and this is the best one I've come across. One thing to note on the 0-60, I've read that a few journalists are getting much better times once the car is thoroughly broken in (which makes sense). I read an article yesterday of someone who got 0-60 in around 6.3 seconds on average with 200 miles on the odometer, and then was getting closer to 0-60 in 5.8 seconds with 800 miles on the odometer. I dont know if this was the case with your presser, but who knows. Great video, you've gained a subscriber!

Subaru refuses to offer adaptive cruise control with a manual transmission. (The NA 2.5l Mazda3 with a manual transmission has adaptive cruise.) Mazda says active lane keep assist took away too much steering feel. I would rather Mazda's philosophy here. Of course, what I really want is a Mazda 2.5T with a manual transmission. I'm looking mighty hard at the Hyundai Elantra N when that comes to the US next year.

They have improved in a lot of ways, and I like their cars a lot. I bought a Subaru Impreza in 2019 before the AWD 3 or CX-30 were available. I would consider them for sure if I were buying a car today. I dont really care about lane tracing, and it is great that they have an otherwise complete driver assistance suite standard. The wide rear pillars of the hatchback really put me off, but the styling of the sedan is beautiful. I really hate that they went to a beam rear axle though, and why not a true touch screen infotainment system?

@@thomaselwood12 Touch screens can certainly be "dangerous" i.e. distracting to use. However, my contention, and many road testers seems to agree, that the central button operated infotainment system Mazda uses is more complicated and distracting than most touch systems, so equally or more so "dangerous". Also, Android Auto, which is the primary feature I use (provides both navigation and music) is specifically engineered to touch operation. In fact, I believe the new CX-50 allows touch commands when AA is in use.

It only works will under 35-40 mph , will help keep you in the middle of the lane and will follow the car ahead in stop and go traffic. Drove in a 1 hour of LA stop and go traffic and almost never had to touch the gas , break or put much steering input , just had to keep my hands on the steering wheel so it would stay activated. You did your best run with a full tank which adds considerable weight. Using the old drag racers trick of just enough to get you to the quarter mile..guarantee it would do under 6 seconds if you wait until the low fuel warning pops up😌 Having said that, don't think Mazda is too worried about the 0-60 as they've moved the 3 into sporty, near luxury compact territory..and the power is more than adequate. How do I know? I'm been driving my 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch for going on 9 months now..and still love it🤘

There is no doubt that this Mazda is a better looking car than a Subaru WRX. But when the push comes to the shove, Mazda's part time Haldex AWD is no match to Subaru's full time AWD. Also the latter comes with a manual transmission that outperforms Mazda's automatic when driving on slippery surfaces. The HP advantage of the WRX doesn't hurt either
