I think that Mazda is doing the right thing by going for the more upscale market where they have a chance at competing. If they could squeeze a bit more horsepower out of this engine say 280-290 on premium and 250-260 on regular,they would have a even more unique proposition,that and quicken the shifts on the transmission. @@vincentv1790 I did get mine Oct 2019, it was manufactured around July. I'm leasing my car. Right off the bat, I had one recall that involved a possible sudden emergency stop auto activating while on the highway. Only one or a couple cases of this happening, but due to the severity of this glitch, I'm glad they recalled them and fixed that promptly. Also, when I bought my car the dealership already fixed an earlier recall where the rear view mirror had issues coming lose. Later, I had to take my car in for another recall that involved the possibility of a scenario where you could lock the key fob inside the car. Lastly, I had to bring my car in for another "recall", not really one, but Mazda had a software update on my system that enabled a new feature in my car for free. They gave my car the ability to remote start, unlock/lock and turn lights on/off through my smartphone app for Mazda. No other recalls aside from the two I had to take it in for, that rear-view mirror one, and that complimentary connected services feature. Not bad for a new generation on a car model. Now for quality issues, I've had issues with the weather seals on the driver and passenger front doors. They started tearing and sticking when opening and closing the doors. They fixed it and haven't had issues since. That's it for me. Never had to pay a penny.

great car. i like our 2010 mazda 3 still. its light, good on gas, looks ok inside. i have 06 subaru wrx. both are different cars. this new mazda is like putting both together but the awd is totally different. it's not easy to beat a subaru in challenging road conditions.

They have improved in a lot of ways, and I like their cars a lot. I bought a Subaru Impreza in 2019 before the AWD 3 or CX-30 were available. I would consider them for sure if I were buying a car today. I dont really care about lane tracing, and it is great that they have an otherwise complete driver assistance suite standard. The wide rear pillars of the hatchback really put me off, but the styling of the sedan is beautiful. I really hate that they went to a beam rear axle though, and why not a true touch screen infotainment system?
@Smaug12 жыл бұрын
Whoa, beam rear axle? Toyota just FINALLY got away from that with their Prius and Corolla and now Mazda is cheaping out?
@thomaselwood122 жыл бұрын
They had to to increase the quality elsewhere. Also touchscreens are just downright dangerous.
@edsmith98552 жыл бұрын
@@thomaselwood12 Touch screens can certainly be "dangerous" i.e. distracting to use. However, my contention, and many road testers seems to agree, that the central button operated infotainment system Mazda uses is more complicated and distracting than most touch systems, so equally or more so "dangerous". Also, Android Auto, which is the primary feature I use (provides both navigation and music) is specifically engineered to touch operation. In fact, I believe the new CX-50 allows touch commands when AA is in use.

At 18:00 he mention that they only have a basic radar distance cruise control but he doesnt know about the Traffic Jam insist that next to the adaptive cruise control . It only works will under 35-40 mph , will help keep you in the middle of the lane and will follow the car ahead in stop and go traffic. Drove in a 1 hour of LA stop and go traffic and almost never had to touch the gas , break or put much steering input , just had to keep my hands on the steering wheel so it would stay activated. Really awesome future that should have been reviewed!

You did your best run with a full tank which adds considerable weight. Using the old drag racers trick of just enough to get you to the quarter mile..guarantee it would do under 6 seconds if you wait until the low fuel warning pops up😌 Having said that, don't think Mazda is too worried about the 0-60 as they've moved the 3 into sporty, near luxury compact territory..and the power is more than adequate. How do I know? I'm been driving my 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch for going on 9 months now..and still love it🤘

To answer the verbiose gps thing - it’s because just a decade ago telling gps to navigate someplace via voice would frequently end with the gps pointing to the wrong place. Saying it back insures the driver the instructions were received properly. I hate it too. But that’s why it happens.

There is no doubt that this Mazda is a better looking car than a Subaru WRX. But when the push comes to the shove, Mazda's part time Haldex AWD is no match to Subaru's full time AWD. Also the latter comes with a manual transmission that outperforms Mazda's automatic when driving on slippery surfaces. The HP advantage of the WRX doesn't hurt either

It competes and beats the CVT WRX which does have a market believe it or not. The Mazda was quicker both from a dig and roll, has a MUCH nicer interior, and it looks better. A manual WRX is still better performance wise if you are going to modify, but the CVT WRX falls behind the 3 turbo
