@youtube user aren't the western people rich? I mean, in our country 80k usd land cruiser v8 costs 150k+ usd and alot of people drive that vehicle. A c class goes around 80k and that vehicle is frequently seen on road too(yep. The taxes alone goes up as much as 120%).On a good day, you might find a s class. Twice I saw a maybach with defender as its guard. And bentley mulsanne hallmark edition with a g wagon as the guard. And also the land rover vogue is becoming kinda common too( 200k+ usd 😒). I mean the west might not be as bad as you say, isn't it?

Exactly it’s unfortunate they took this cheaper route because you and I both know they’re not turning back. Imo besides the steering wheel this took out a ton of class. Slapping a big screen is pathetic nor innovative at all compared to the competition that’s been doing this already for years... the passenger side literally besides the seat just looks like an A class.

@@porschet5898 Thanks for the extra clarity I am aware of that and appreciate what they’re reasoning is since the beginning of the S class line up. It’s just this is unnecessary man. You could use the literal gauge cluster screen to even do something and clear off the infotainment area if you’d like. There’s NO need to place a massive screen there removing everything forcing the driver to take their hands off for seconds not even for a glance. That’s not innovative luxury that’s idiotic. Bentley for example atleast gives an option to hide their screen thats luxury. That doesn’t mean buy a Bentley, but you can see they have the proper idea even RR wouldn’t slap a massive screen. Maybe do something with haptic feedback. It’s Mercedes they have the money, the team, and parts alongside a big clientele to impress and to figure something out. Nobody has ever asked for a huge screen in their s class and they’re giving it to us. Does that seem like Mercedes was feeding their customers new beauty and reasons to choose the next gen or find a cheap alternative for their parts? The buttons feel incredible on the current and W221 model. There was never a time when I’d think anything should change besides maybe perfecting the infotainment system. Not make the entire center one. Also the W220 model is gorgeous I’ve been seeing more lately and I LOVE seeing them on the road. Idk I just feel like the new S class isn’t special anymore. It’s similar to an A- E class exterior. The interior is less impressive and even simpler that their previous gens. I don’t see any new real functionality nor parts that could change the game like the S class is known for.

I agree that if you don’t spec the W223 with the right material and colour combinations it will look like garbage, but with the right appointments such as Designo trim and exclusive Nappa, I think the design works.

3-liter engine in an S500? Inside, cheap and dangerous tablets. I notice that car manufacturers no longer invest money in the design and materials of the dashboard. Instead, they simply mount a tablet. Much cheaper solution, definitely for them.

This car marks the end of great mercedes era for me. If I ever wanted to buy an ipad feeling car, this would be it. I currently own S63 AMG Coupe and it will be my last mercedes. What a shame.

@@sleivable To be honest, I don’t know. I enjoy driving coupes and there is nothing new that I like. All the new cars have dumped the luxury feeling for a high-tech feeling. I am probably going to get a 2nd gen. Continental GT Speed (2016-2017) as I already owned one before and really enjoyed it. It lacks displays and touchpads and still feels like a real driving machine. I am definitely not going with MB/Audi/BMW/Porsche as they all have switched to high-tech atmosphere.

I read a great article just today about how the switch to getting rid of buttons/knobs and having screens only is a very bad idea because it forces you to take your eyes off the road. Ideal is a mix of buttons and screen. Most controls should be physical wherever possible.

Quality and material usage is top notch, but I think it's a dashboard you have to get used to. Personally I'm not really fond of the 'standing monitor' display panel behind the steering wheel. I think it would look better if it was (curved and) integrated into the dashboard. I like the center console design but again I think it'd look better when integrated.
