You are absolutely correct, the little things that could so easily be changed during manufacturing can make or brake an RV deal. Manufacturers, listen to the customers.

Man.. I really appreciate this. We were about to buy one of these over an Alpine 3700fl and I didn’t even think about this. Especially the low clearance on the backend. You saved us headache down the road for features we really didn’t even need. Much appreciated. And got the dip in. Salute my man.

This is one of the best reviews ever! I have a Toy Hauler and I've found so many of the same issues with mine. You would think the people that design these things would spend a couple of weeks camping in them so they would find these issues before you spend a bunch of money on them.

I think Keystone was listening- another commenter said a lot of these issues have been resolved in the newer builds. I’d love to see one. I’m planning on another video showing a few more fixes, improvements and upgrades I’ve done.

Nice video and great information. We have a 40’ Cougar 368MBI (2018) and saw this model about a year ago and really liked the layout and was almost tempted but too soon. I did notice the back end being lower and the water tanks slightly less holding capacity. Your roller wheels on the back should be factory installed. I hope they see your video. Well done.

So this is a followup to a my previous comment. We purchased our 377fl back in November 2021 and were totally in love with it despite the issues mentioned in the video, specifically at about 1:30 second into it. I watched this very video prior to purchasing ours and had the dealer install skid wheels on the back of it to counter the low hanging rear end. Fast forward to the end of March 2022 when we finally took our new camper out for the first time. Getting to the campground and into our spot was pretty easy, the real problem came when trying to get it back into our driveway. We have a pretty steep slope going up the driveway so what we discovered was, from the back of the camper to the rear tire is 15 feet of overhang. The rear of the camper and the skid wheels made contact with the driveway long before the wheels on the axles even came close to going up the slope. One of the skid wheels hit sideways and drug rather than roll up the driveway and in pretty short order, broke off the hub. So I had to park it on the side of the road in front of our house and wait for the replacement skid wheels to come in. The dealer only had a 4" wheel which on the manufacturers website stated that size was for a class B motor home. I opted for the 6" wheel which was rated for a class A motorhome. The new wheels arrived and I thought things would be smooth sailing now. We took the camper out this past weekend to a Thousand Trails campground in Williamsburg Virginia. We got a nice big pull thorough site that was really easy to get into. The problem came when trying to leave the park. They have very tight turns in the campground and it was very difficult to make the tight turn to get on the road going out of the campground. I managed to make it out without hitting any trees. Once again when we got home to park it, issues with the skid wheels. This time the right rear one got in the grass and sunk pretty deep because of the weight on it. When I pulled forward to straighten up, the right rear corner of the camper contacted the pavement and pulled the corner away from the body. At that point we decided that it even though we absolutely loved the layout and room inside, this camper was just too big for us and our driveway. At that point we drove to the nearest Camping World and traded it in for a 30 foot long Cougar. We took it in the shorts on depreciation but it will be worth it not having to deal with the stress of having the Montana. Like I said, the 377fl is amazing but if you're planning on traveling around the country and want to get into state parks and older campgrounds that weren't designed for the larger campers we have today, this isn't the model for you. It perfect if you plan to go to larger resort campgrounds or parking at an annual site and only going a few places.

Sorry to hear about your troubles - and this is definitely a big RV and you have to plan ahead on where you’re staying and be on the lookout for inclines. My rear rollers are still holding strong and still make contact with the road at least once almost every outing. Slow and steady for us.

Wow, lots of issues the manufacturer should have addressed during designing. I hope they see this video. We have a 2018 Montana 3560RL, and we have zero of these issues. I do have that same side mounted sewer hose storage tube, but I am able to push 2 lengths of sewer hose into it. I often wonder if that plastic plug cap will ever pop off and have sewer hose dragging along the highway, not a good look. Great video, thanks!

Just bought a 2016 Montana 3950br with an awesome layout. Upgrading from an older 1999 Snowbird we learned a number of areas Keystone needs to think more about. They are very good at building boxes but they seem to have no sense of how a camper is going to be used. Usability Engineering is a big part of camper design and it's obvious Keystone has let all of theirs go. The Snowbird had features in the correct locations (eg: Water pump switch by the faucet, not on a panel 15ft away) and made use of ALL the extra space. The front compartments on ours cannot be opened when our truck is attached? The Snowbird had that figured out 20yrs ago with a dual hatch idea. Still love the floorplan and we're learning how to maximize areas Keystone obviously overlooked. Thanks for the video, good points.

We just took delivery of our 2022 377FL. it looks to be almost the exact same layout as your 376FL. I watched this video a few months ago before purchasing ours and remembered you pointing out how low it is in the back. I had the dealer install swiveling skid wheels in the back for exactly the reason you mentioned. Thank goodness I did because my driveway is really steep and the wheels hit the pavement long before the main wheels started going up the incline. Another thing on mine is the location of the drain handles for the 2 gray tanks and the black tank. Yours are at least a foot to the right side of the steps, the put the cover for mine so the middle of the cover is right in the middle of the right side step rail. I can't open the cover to drain the tanks unless the steps are up. So overall, you did a great job pointing out issues you have with yours but I do have to say, some of the things you complained about, really? Extra keys, what's the big deal? It's not gonna ruin a trip having to rifle through a few keys to get to the one you need, especially since you seem to go to great length to label things. Holding the TV remote up higher? Come on, how hard is that? If I had to guess I'd say you may be an engineer by trade. Remind me of my old boss who thinks exactly the way you do, you guys could be twins LOL. He's a self proclaimed PIA engineer. But like I said, overall, great video point the major flaws out. Oh, the leveling system does have flaws for sure. When mine was delivered it had a message Error LF Jack and it was beeping. After going to youtube University it seems that the 4 rear leveling jacks don't like to be fully extended. Apparently there's a sensor switch when they're fully extended that generates the error code, The fix for this is to put some blocks underneath them so they don't fully extend. To clear the error you have to manually extend all 4 jacks about 6 inches or maybe a little more to be on the safe side then do a retract all jacks. When they're all fully extended, the error supposedly clears. I haven't tried this yet but the 4 or 5 videos I watched all agreed on this point. I liked the addition of the PVC for the "stinky slinky" sewer hose so that's something I'll be doing to mine as well.

Ha, thanks. I was being a little finicky , true. I actually went to school to be a mechanical engineer but ended up be a sales manager later in life. PIA DIY upgrade guy now. I’ve learned a few more things with this coach - planning a sequel to this video. Just haven’t had time. Did yours come with Rainier brand tires? If so keep a close eye on them. I’ve already replaced them after 1 year and less than 5,000 miles.

We will probably get the regular Montana because of the cable slides on the High Country. There's a big price difference so if I knew the cable slides would be OK we might consider the High Country. There's not much else that the regular Montana has over the High Country. Great video very well done.

My last trailer was a 2014 Outback Terrain 332. It had 3 slides and all were cables. Those were fine, it was the gearbox on the electric motors for the slides that we had trouble with. Two failed and were replaced under warranty. They were fine after that. So far so good with this one.

We just struggled with the auto level errors last week! Everything you have brought up, we have had to adjust/personalize with our 2020 381th. Great video. We cut a filter screen to go in front of the steps to keep debris out. An attempt to figure out a problem with the heater which turned out to be a relay switch. They don’t offer enough open shelving or easily accessible outlets. And yes the set of keys is overkill. 😂

LOVE this review!! I wish more people made more videos like yours instead of just reviewing it to try to sell it to the user. I am also currently looking at this floorplan for an upgrade for my family of 5. I currently have a 2017 Keystone Bullet 330BHS and have experienced the same issues with them. I completely agree with your ideas and hope that Keystone reviews your video. I do like Keystones version of this floorplan over several other manufactures. Can you tell me the height of the Loft? Does the A/C for the loft only dump into the loft,or is it tied into the bedroom down stairs. Again thank you.

I have the same MHC and I bought mine used. It was 2 weeks old and still had paper plates from the original owner's purchase. When I got it home I realized the tank drain was ripped off by the previous owner. I repaired it and installed the same rollers. With the rollers I damaged the drain myself so I ended up just plugging it since I don't plan on using the tank and if I do I can always pull the plug.

Thanks so much for doing this, your review of this awesome floorplan helps us immeasurably; as we just ordered the 376FL 10 days ago. We will address all of your points at the PDI with our dealer, prior to taking possession of the unit. I was worried about the space in the loft as my 2 teenagers are very tall as well, but reading all of the great comments below has put our mind at ease, and we now are confident that we choose the right unit for our family. The steel rollers welded to the frame is genius, I'm looking to source them locally now, and will weld them on for sure. Question, my wife loves the metal mesh screen on the screen doors of the Montana models. Does anyone know if we can order the metal screen, and if so will it fit in the High Country Doors? Our lapdog guard-dog loves flying through the plastic screens to chase other dogs....

Lol man I found a lot of things wrong with the rv, but like you I’m also a DIY guy, so that being said I’ve found that out water heater was not plugged in and had to find the outlet it was supposed to be plugged into behind the stove, I also found 2 a/c ducts were not connected. One in master under the stairs and the other in the back end of the loft. Man and after buying this rv I realized a stackable washer and dryer does not fit in the designated area so I had to remodel the stairs going up to the loft to fit a washer and dryer, also tor down the master closet because it not functional at all and fully remodeled that as well, lol I can go on and on I also remodel the loft as well to be more functional, it came out great 👌🏼 oh man and just had the front outlets lose power including my fridge 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’m thinking there is a gfci somewhere below the storage that I have to reset just need to find the darn thing

The AC is the rear master is not very great. We inquired about adding a 3rd unit but were told it can't be done. I"m going to look into rerouting the flow right off the unit into the ducts better. I've already fixed and opened up a few of them that the factory did a terrible job of installing. The metal casters on the back are an absolute lifesaver.

WOW WAS THIS HELPFUL. We bought a 2021 390DS with the rear drop frame. My dealer said "no worries" when I asked the question about dragging the rear end. Took it from dealer to our seasonal site. pulling in and turning up a small hill the right rear hydraulic jack got stuck on a very small lifted rock. My worries were real. I believe the jacks are to low in the rear, going to be raising them up to a recommended height of 6-7 inches off the ground. I will be installing the rollers in the rear. Plan is to take this fifth wheel to Florida in October from Maine. QUESTION? when the unit drags on the rollers, it will lift the rear of the coach putting tremendous pressure on that frame, any thoughts on that? Can it push it through the floor or will it just raise the rear end as it goes? Thanks again for your review.
@BergKnowsBest
@BergKnowsBest 3 жыл бұрын
If it’s going to drag so hard that it will lift I think I’d stop and try to find another route if possible. The welder who put the rollers in told me that the frame back there is rock solid. Like a 10” I-beam if I’m not mistaken. If you raise the rear jacks you’re going to run out of throw on the hydraulic ram very quickly and need to use blocks under them for leveling. I already have to do that now sometimes. Plus I would imagine Auto-Level would need to be recalibrated.

The living space is amazing - tons of room and comfort. We are seriously considering some multi week trips. The biggest downside is the heat and AC to the rear bedroom. It’s just weak. Heat is easy to solve with a small space heater. The AC needs help. I may try the rvairflow.com setup or something similar this coming summer. As a person about to buy their first fifth wheel and looking at Keystone as an option it's nice to see these little details. I have a truck like yours 2011 Ram 2500 but when I look at the weights it has me wondering if I should get a different truck. How does yours do pulling this rv? I am assuming you have added air bags or helper springs to combat the squat but are you "over loaded"?
@BergKnowsBest
@BergKnowsBest 3 жыл бұрын
I was more inclined to upgrade my ‘paid for’ 2500 than try to replace it with a 3500. I have upgraded brakes, suspension - air bags, and tires. Even without air it only squatted a couple inches. I was surprised. I only run about 20psi in the bags. I’m sure I’m right at my limit with payload but the truck handles it incredibly well. Rides level, stops well, pulls hills doing 70. I do believe having the water tank in the very rear and full may offset a little pin weight too.

@BergKnowsBest
@BergKnowsBest 3 жыл бұрын
Pin weight is about 2500lbs and pushing the limit of my cargo capacity. Empty its about 13k, loaded 15k. I did some upgrades on the truck including springs, air bags, HD brakes, and I feel confident now and within safety margins. But I'd rather have a 1-ton. Tows like a champ, it's the stopping and staying in control that is more important.

Great video, thank you!! We’ve been considering this model for some time. How do you find the heating/cooling between the loft and bedroom? Example, to cool the bedroom does the loft become an ice box or vice versa? Also, the dealer told me they can’t add an accessory hitch on the back because it’s already so low. So no bike racks. Could you put a couple bikes in the kitchen when it’s all closed up? How is maneuvering this rig, seems like it has a really really long ass. Thanks!!!!!
@BergKnowsBest
@BergKnowsBest 4 жыл бұрын
We got it at the end of summer so only one trip in the heat. The AC seemed fine as you can close off some of the outlets in the loft. It is a bit noisy up there. Ours has an electric heat pump which we’ve tried to use more than the furnace. The living room is definitely warmer than the rear bedroom so we have supplemented a little with a space heater. Heat rises so the loft has been fine. I would rather mount a bike rack off the rear ladder vs storing bikes inside. The kitchen wouldn’t work for that. It takes a little getting used to backing up because your pivot points are different than a bumper pull trailer. Basically it’s not as responsive to your adjustments. I’ve been pulling trailers most of my life and could thread a needle with my last 37ft bumper pull. This is my first 5th wheel so it has taken a little getting used to.

Great video and thanks for pointing out the issues with the backend clearance. Just a quick update, we purchased a 2021 377FL last week and they have actually changed the under belly and rear end to fix the clearance issues. Our was manufactured on June 17, 2021 according to the tag so I'm not sure when they made the updates, but now it looks much better. The great thing is that from what I can tell, there wasn't any change to the height in the loft or the bedroom to make the improvements. Definitely not going to be great in the bedroom if you are 6'6", but at 5'10" I have plenty of headroom to spare. They also moved the power hookup to the more common area on the left side instead of off the back. Another change is that the backup camera prep is not for a Furrion or WiSight - it's just a generic cap with power running to it. Nothing huge there - just something they changed. Didn't fix the bedroom stair issue with the metal corner so we put a baby corner protector on that to stop any injury from happening at two in the morning. We were soooo very happy and surprised when we saw these changes so obviously Keystone was listening to you. Thanks again and let me know if there is anything else anyone wants to know about the new "mid-year" updates...

Thanks for the video. About to buy one. In your opinion if the drain line of the rear tank is tucked up like you did, why not just let the back of the frame slide on the high spots? Are the rollers protecting anything else? (Sweet design on the rollers by the way. I just wonder if it’s worth them taking away two more precious inches of clearance.)
@BergKnowsBest
@BergKnowsBest 4 жыл бұрын
I debated that too. But I’d rather replace a damaged roller than have a carved up frame that will start rusting. I also don’t want to tear up my road with dragging vs rolling - the HOA wouldn’t be too happy about that. Plus if a driveway entrance or something has a high spot the rollers will help to protect the tank and underbody covering. The location of the drain made it a shorter run to go out the side vs out the back. I positioned it so there’s no climbing or reaching under it to get to the valve.
