Thank you for such a awesome review. I love taking wildlife and zoo photos and just had a super zoom point and shoot. I think this camera will be a great start for me. I’m so excited.

This is true, the Nikon D3500 camera is a terrific camera. I have one and the results have always been good however I seldom go beyond ISO 400. I’m old skool and have a couple of tripods when shooting in low light. Instead of trigger release you can use the 2 second timer in many instances. I got a kit with 18-55 and 70-300 AF-P lenses so on a crop sensor (X1.5) like this one you are getting 27-450mm focal length. Wow!!

I still love my D3400 and D7100 body.. the D3400 battery life is sick too! and the D3500 should be good too.. (if the d3400 broke in the future) too bad they have been discontinued and replaced with the mirrorless.. still nothing can replace the feeling when shooting with a DSLR when compared to mirrorless.. I think I will continue to use DSRL until the end of days, with the rest of the stock DSLR left in this world..😁😁

Great review buddy!! I have been using this for the past two years now, and I can definitely say its a steal deal for the price! The images you can get out of the sensor is excellent! Even being an entry level dslr, in this day and age of mirrorless offerings, in ultra budget, it works phenomenally. I'm just a hobbyist street photographer, so far I'm enjoying the Nikkor 35mm 1.8G on this. Works great outdoors, and I definitely have started shooting more family portraits indoors with this combo! It's a great camera to start the photography journey!

@@DomGattoPhotography Thank you for sharing your experience with the d3500. I find it extremely difficult to find videos of real world use cases and photos for such entry level cameras with good lenses. Thank you for making such videos! It will help us a lot.

The kit 18-55mm is good for macro with a magnification of 3.8. Psuedo macro can be had at 3.0. The kit is closer to 4.0. I would shoot that lens strictly at F5.6 at all lengths as that is where it's strongest resolving power, not F3.5 nor F11. For the 70-300mm AF-P, shooting at F8 for 70mm/300mm is where its highest resolving power is at. At 135mm/200mm shoot at F5.6 as that's where it's the strongest at resolving your images.

Agreed. I have the D3500 with the 18-55mm. Used that lens for 3 years, but last week I decided to pull the trigger. Bought the 50mm f1.8. It may not be the best camera in the world, but now it feels like a beast and I love the photos it produces.

Thankyou for your Candor. Clearly, the D3500 is for Photographs - Not video. I started out with Film back in the 1960s. Shooting more than ISO (ASA) more than 1600 was unheard of. You can set a Mix of "RAW & JPEG Mode" together.

Would this suit weddings birthdays/portraits that sort of setting ?
@DomGattoPhotography

You could definitely use it for those purposes, however I would use something full-frame for weddings (and preferably with dual card slots). That being said, it will work just fine.

I'd you're just starting, it's the perfect camera to learn and grow on. By the time you're ready to do a full-time wedding you can either upgrade or use the D3500. But for portraits and small events it's perfect.

@@DomGattoPhotography yeah that's ideally what I'd want to use it for as I'm currently the go to for photos 😬 so it would be handy to have a great camera. I have a Lumix G2 but that's kind of old now and the photos are quite grainy in outdoor settings but the lens is very small

I've had one for about 2 year now. Great little camera. Ya, the battery life is insane. much different than my point and shoots. I like the compact size. Quite a difference from a full-framed Nikon. I'll probably pic up a 50mm 1.4 as it's much cheaper but there are a couple of other $weet len$e$ for thi$ camera. The free Nikon ViewNX-i editing software is great for editing your RAW files. Camera is easy to use.

Would you recommend this camera for astro? I'm planning to connect it to my telescope.. If you have any astrophotography images I would like to see them please, thanks.
@DomGattoPhotography
@DomGattoPhotography 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't personally used it for any serious astrophotography. I did set it up on a tripod and take some sky shots while up in the mountains. The shots came out pretty good, albeit a little grainy at higher ISO. Noise reduction in Lightroom took out a lot of the grain while leaving the starlight. The D3500 is a good starter for astrophotography, but there are better options (which cost more). If you have a good telescope, the D3500 will definitely suit your needs.
