Next one he builds will have three sticks.Main transmission with two auxiliaries.I saw the same B model Mack at a couple of truck shows here in Pa.If I remember right the owner said it had a 5 x 4 x 4 from the factory. The main trans and the first auxiliary were bolted together then a driveshaft to the second auxiliary which was mounted at least 3ft. behind the cab.If that doesn't make a truck driver out of you nothing will.

18 speed with a 4 speed alternate. The 4 speed is like have 4 different differentials you can runout 18 speeds in. Great for long hill climbs with super heavy loads where you get the odd reduction in grades and can pick up a couple of gears that you wouldn’t be able to do with a str8 18 speed.

I love the spread and the long 5th wheel slide. I also agree with the heavy axle with the pumps. This is a real nice heavy duty haul tractor. The pusher axle is perfect with the super single. A truck after my own heart ,18sp with a 4sp auxiliary, no 2sp rear? Does the front tires extend out past the front fenders? I'm a big fan of your special order trucks.

Do you guys spec heavier than this in the states? From what ive seen 46,000lb rears are big over there. Standard spec in Aus for a "heavy haul" roadtrain/float truck would be 52,000lb rear and if we want heavy duty we go 6 rod springs over bags. Rated GCM of a truck like that would be 310,000lb in your money.

When they have it like that it is because they opted for the after treatment to be horizontal instead of being in a box. It is generally to have a lower profile step box compared to if they had it in a box.

Basic heavy haul spec is 46k lbs axles. From there it's options to add to it like double frame or a tag axle. All but 1 of my trucks are heavy haul spec. And we made it heavy haul to keep them the same. But running tru axle dumps we have to have it to haul the weight.

So all the comments on 72 gears being "too much" or picturing running from 1 to 72.... I never drove a set up like that but I see it as multiple ranges for a wide variety of conditions. Deep down torque for an oil field combined with 75 MPH cruze on the interstate to get it there. The old 15 Road rangers had deep reduction. You could use all 5 deep reduction gears delivering on a construction site. Or if pulling away with a heavy load rin 1, 2, 3 in deep reduction. Then shift up into low but then you would go back to 2 low... and even then you needed to blip the throtte a bit to match revs because it was only a 1/2 gear up....

Yes if you like trucks that are very old fashioned. European trucks are way more advanced in every respect. Volvo for instance has a 750 hp for 2021.

Why doesn't this heavy hauler have a pyrometer? That would be an essential gauge for this kind of work. Me thinks.

"Ach du lieber, mein schatz"!!! Whoa mamma! The only thing I know about trucks is the front from the back (maybe!)! My son-in-law is an OTR trucker out of far north central Illinois. If he saw this "beast" he'd lose all his bodily functions!!! I almost did myself (won't tell ya which ones though!)! What a gorgeous hunk of machinery your truck is! Bet you have to go to "engineering college" & earn a doctorate degree to know how to operate this "tiny morsel of loveliness"! You could use "more gages" though!! Will this baby do "wheelies"??? How about 0 - 60 acceleration? WHAT IS THE COST???!!! Maybe "$19.95 PLUS S&H"? Betcha the "S&H" would kill ya! What happened to the "two-stick Spicer gearbox"? I like to keep my hands "busy"! This truck may not be super "streamlined" but she sure "reeks" of "old world lovely truckiness", like a real "HE-MAN" truck should look like! It's like I likes my womens, "BIG & BOSSY"! Now I'm IN LOVE! At 81, I'm too old to get very excited about trucks, but I am NOW! THANKS for a wonderful TREAT into the wunnerful world of trucks! "Gesundheit" und pass da LUTEFISK poleaze!
