Greetings from NYC! I just discovered your channel. What an awesome jazz incubator you've built there! Such talented young musicians, working with each other and with visiting pros. I would have been over the moon if I'd had something like this when I was a puppydog bass player! The Jamboree Club is on my agenda for my next visit to Barcelona. Thank you for being such a terrific mentor to these future jazz heavyweights.

Why does the world need Magdala? Can she help the planet or stop wars or cure cancer? Very crass comment
@glyndavies Жыл бұрын
@@linzieloo1 Magali Datzira has a unique voice and uses it with a skill and passion that puts a smile on the faces of everyone on stage with her, to say nothing of those of us listening here on KZbin, including myself. I don't know if Magali can stop wars or cure cancer. If she could, that would be a bonus. At this time it seems that no one else can put the world to rights, either, and it remains a dire and scary place. Anyone who can bring some joy, happiness and beauty into the world is owed some gratitude. For a lot of us, the youthful enthusiasm and talent which radiates from all the members of Joan Chamorro's SAJB raises our spirits and makes the world a better place three and a half minutes at a time. I suggest you search out some more of their work; it might put a smile on your face, too.

You know who would love this? The composer (words and music) Paul Anka. From my hometown of Ottawa Canada. In fact my "Aunt Ding Swale" named him when he was a newborn baby. Asked by his parents, who operated a corner grocery store, for a name, Aunt Ding looked down into his cradle and said, with apparent authority: "He's a Paul." Thanks to my favorite Spanish jazz musicians and singers for (re)sharing this New Year's Day 2023. This grew on me. A great interpretation of an old Anka hit. It was noted that you chose B♭ for the scale, Paul Anka sang it in G maj. The instrumental bridge in the middle was a nice addition that's not in the original. And thanks for the half-note scale change towards the end (most sheet-music doesn't include that scale change). There is so much going on in this arrangement, you have to watch it several times to see everything.
