Excellent head to head. Got myself a sub and an Aquis and both are impressive watches no doubt. My Rolex wins when it comes to brand recognition but frankly speaking my Oris wins in terms of quality and price. Bought my Rolex to feel important but nahh..at the end of the day i felt more connected to my Oris cuz realistically it feels like a better watch than the Rolex imo... laid off the Rolex fanboy after being in the watch game for a while.

The Rolex is far more prestigious and will hold its value better but the Oris is far better looking. That blue version is one of the best looking dive watches. Makes the Rolex look old.

I own a subby 41, and a sea dweller SD 43 red. Although quality is sublime and I apreciate them both, Design, looks and comfort of my Oris collection , Aquis, Titan and my TT1 all kill my Rolex's in regards to case, dial and bracelet aesthetics. Simply better looking from every angle. Wouldn't bother me to sell the Rollers, but won't be selling my Oris's unless I'm updating. I'm past the value retention and the whole prestige and snobbery part. I just wear what I like more regardless of brand. Some might argue that the Rolex will last longer. True, but the Oris will last 30 years and I won't be here by then, and if I am here, I probably won't be wearing any 30 year old watch regardless. Point here is that you buy and wear what you personally love in your own subjective opinion, and don't worry about what the Jones's are buying or wearing.

Yes value for money hands down. They have better clarity and they are for the real people as their moto suggests. I'm an Oris man to the bone. I have 3 Rolexes, might keep the explorer 2. Selling the sea dweller 43 red and subby 41 More comfortable with my Oris collection. People complain about the priority bracelets but it's that design, integration that gives them that look and the curving lugs that hug the wrist. They just do it better.

@@beestingza its working extremely well. Very accurate timekeeping. Overall a very solid watch for the money, no issues thus far. Go ahead if you are thinking about it. I got used to the quirk of setting the time, need to just release crown a little bit in the opposite side (disengage the lever teeth) while setting the time.

I am not a fan of the Oris brand but this watch is stunning. It makes the Rolex look old and dated. The Rolex will probably sell a million times more because it has the right logo but if prestige and resale aren't important the Oris simply looks like a far prettier watch for a fraction of the price.

I used to love the sub but after seeing so many homage watches, I went with the green Aquis in 39mm. So, my solution was to go with a green Oris Aquis and a Tudor Black Bay 58. Still had money left over.

Oris has got 5 days power reseve , watch is anti magnetic ,oris is adjusted to 5 positions with accuracy -3/+5 ,oris is pressure resistant ,it is a professional diver and only needs service once in 10 years ,this oris is a perfect watch with perfect affordable price but if you want a brand with high recognition and resale value then you can go for Rolex ,Rolex is very expensive when we compare to oris aquis both has 300 m Water resistant ,but Rolex has superlative chronometer adjusted to 6 positions and temp with accuracy +2/-2 ,their steel is much corrosion resistant due to 904 l but is not an important matter to consider but Cyclops lens in front of date window is perfect ,if you compare quality wise then Rolex is much better but aquas has it own quality ,power reserve it is very high in oris .Both watches are Anti magnetic .If you want a watch with very fine features in affordable price then you can go for oris obviously , oris quis is fantastic in all aspects and you can use Oris for a lifetime.

I have several Oris watches, and always recommend them to people. For me it's a case of buy both. The Oris can be your watch until the Rolex arrives. And when the Rolex arrives you'll probably still want to wear the Oris anyway!

As an Aquis owner I love the watch. It's gorgeous and is a great watch for the money. My only gripe is the thickness of the watch. I would not recommend it for small wrists

Probably should do the Omega Seamaster Diver 300m vs. the Oris. Still a big price differential, but there are probably some buyers who would be choosing between those two. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who's choosing between a Rolex and an Oris. The Rolex is a statement watch and the guy who's buying it is not interested in a lower-priced alternative.

I went to the mall. Rolex and Omega had stores side by side. The Omega vibe was like, sup! Which one you wanna try on first? And they were friendly as anything. The Rolex store was empty and had 3 men guarding the entrance. The whole process of trying on a sub felt like I was in the police station. The guy was arrogant and wanted my license. A total turn off.

I own an Oris Titan C on the Oris rubber strap along with a Rolex Deep Sea Sea Dweller and I must say the Oris gets the most wrist time. It is such a great watch.

After doing alot of research I got myself the Oris, as my first "real" watch. But I had to give it back to my AD just a week later due to not staying within the -3 to +5 sec per day. Hoping to hear back from them next week with some good news about it.

Really? It has mine since the beginning of January 2022 and it has been inside of +2/-2. Usually I’ll check it with my phone on Monday mornings at most of the time it is a bit better then -5. I usually give the crown 30-50 spins every 3-4 days; not sure if that is helping or not but less the -1 second a day is better then I world ever expect for $3000

Just picked up today the 2024 Aquis Great Barrier Reef Edition 4 - incredible, beautiful zero buyers remorse, only 2000 are made so a bit of rarity thrown into the mix. The dial is simply magical - as close to sun rays filtering down into the depths of the ocean as you can get without doing it live.

There's no denying that the Oris Aquis is the better value for money watch, but since Rolex to most people is about brand prestige and value retention the Oris will sadly be over looked by most. I personally buy a watch to please myself certainly not for others so my choice hands down would be the Oris.

Having owned both the Oris 400 and the 114060 (which hey, is close enough), I feel that the Sub is the better overall watch in almost every aspect, except warranty. But is it twice as good a watch (MSRP), much less four times as good a watch (grey)? That'd be a tough sell to anyone who doesn't have their heart set on a Rolex, irrespective of cost.

You get a hell of a lot of watch for what oris charges. Love my aquis sunray cherry dial watch and hope to add a cal 400 to the collection soon. I ware my oris if i buy another i would ware and enjoy it as well pass it on to my kids. If i bought a rolex it would sit in the bax to wait and sell when i could get a profit on the investment.

Buy a watch to sell it? I guess it's not a terrible idea, that way you can get that lovely Oris dial and a few grand in your pocket! If I was spending real money, though, I'd get the Oris as I don't want to spend my life on a mythical 'list' for the Rolex (I don't like the cyclops, either). Added to that, the Oris has one of the loveliest dials I've seen, it's like looking down into a blue sea lit by sunlight.

I have the blue GMT and I can assure everybody that the quality is very good. I have compared it with the Rolex Submariner and the bezel looks as expensive as the Sub. Side by side the Rolex doesn't look 6 times more expensive

In business settings everyone wears a Rolex with no horological knowledge. So I'd pick an oris Aquis over a sub, and buy a GS with the change!

This comparison just shows even clearly that Rolex is overpriced. Glad i sold mine. The misaligned bezel and noisy rotor on my Sub turned me off. Feels like a cheap watch. Bought it brand new from an AD. Can't believe the quality is just mediocre considering the price tag and all the hype. My other watches are better.

Both excellent in time keeping and quality. Oh and I can sell both for considerably more than I paid for them New. Try that with your ORIS. Which is a fine watch by the way. It's just not a Rolex and never will be. By the way I'm not a Rolex fan boy I have eleven watches and only two are Rolex and my favorite is My Blancpain Bathyscaphe ceramic Blue.
