We used to run those wider skis on the trapper sleds with good luck. It helps when your breaking trail and going through slush as well. It is nice to have a narrow front end when going through overgrown bush trails, I would not want to give that up for stability.

Thanks for the great video. I have a 2022 Skandic WT 600 etec. I have experienced the same feeling and had it on its side twice. I ordered the Gen 2 skis today I am hopeful that this will address the issue of stability. I primarily use this sled for ice fishing and hauling gear in and out of camp. Overall, I love the sled it's a beast for sure. I rarely go over 30 miles an hour hopefully the machine won't bounce around too much.

Excellent! I was curious about the track width of these and this showed perfectly what I was looking for

I understand you I have a 2022 Skandic Wt 600 Ace and compared to my father's old 2004 Skandic Suv the point of gravity is very different. I had to buy slippers to put on the skates

most sleds should tip, its ideal for it to lean, not for your applications i would assume but for recreational purposes driving in 2-4 ft of snow the only way you can really turn is by tipping like that

Did you ever try just adding the Skidoo ski skins to the OEM skis? I’m curious how that would compare to Simmons skis.

Good idea I've used skins on sleds in the past and they work well for deep powder floatation. Being thin plastic they would not help stabilize the heavy Skandic on hard packed snow.

Skandic is a work sled designed for far, far north. Like Inuit north as a work sled. It's naturally tippy. Its skis are close to the center of mass on purpose. If you don't want a tippy sled, get a trail sled. The reason it got less tippy was the width of the ski, which still isn't wider than a normal trail sled. If you still want a work type sled and 10000% less tippy trade it in and get an Expedition in 4 stroke.

Correct. Excellent summary.

I have a Skandic. It is a work sled. The reason for the design is to allow better access in tight trails, between trees and to utilize the pogo suspension design. That design allows for smooth old fashioned bathtub front section of the snowmobile. The entire front section of the snowmobile becomes a toboggan. No front end suspension causing drag in powder. The price to pay for this design is less stability, the solution is wider skis which offer additional stability and additional float.

Legit, I live in the subarctic and have a Tundra. We have Skandics everywhere. they are tippy on the trail and are quite dangerous to drive over 90kmh, but in the bush it is the perfect sled. handles our snow and get through tight trees easily, and you never have to worry about busting a arms.

Ya ya everyone defends brp no matter how crappy their designs or quality is lol.

Right… even with my 2022 tundra i tipped two times in a day haha.. first time owning a new skidoo instead of driving old school 90’s fan cooled machines all my life

Theres more shifting your body weight around (side to side) with the tundra

If you think a Skandic is tippy, try out a 600 Ace Tundra. Machines like this can't be ridden sitting down, you've got to be standing and using a lot of body english.
Will it tip over less or not at all with a heavy cargo sled in tow?

Both empty and loaded.

Be glad your not riding a 1970 ski doo, those tip over way easier, even on a flat surface if you sit on it wrong.

@@practicalporters lol I'd love to! I'm having all the same frustrating issues with my new WT 900. It's hard to explain to people what the machine is doing. I found this video; it really shows had hard it is to keep the skandic in a straight line while driving. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooa6g5KLa7Gqrs0

@@CanadaTrapper1 if you can afford it the gen 3 Simmons skis really help. Watch my video on that exact topic
