It's no secret that there is a growing demand for more powerful outboard motors. These new outboard motors have fueled a demand for larger boat designs that previously may have been powered by stern drive or other inboard power. As more powerful outboards are introduced, the boats get bigger and as the boats get bigger, outboards are getting more muscular. Suzuki has embarked on a major engineering expedition to build the Ultimate 4-Stoke Outboard Motor. In developing the new DF350A, Suzuki Engineers started with a clean sheet of paper and considered many factors for this design. Making more horsepower can be accomplished in many ways. The engine design can include larger displacement and adding turbo chargers or superchargers. However, larger displacement engines typically burn more fuel and increase the overall weight. While adding complex mechanical components can create reliability concerns. Once you have all of that horsepower, now the challenge is getting it to hook up or grab traction in the water. Suzuki Engineers labored through years of trial and success with computer simulations and on water testing to significantly improve the way an outboard motor converts engine power to underwater thrust. DF300B
The new DF300B is the world's first 300 hp four stroke outboard with dual contra rotating propellers. The combination of the Suzuki Dual Propellor System and the Suzuki 2-Stage Gear Reduction successfully produce better torque which is engineered especially for heavy boats. Built for every-day use on larger boats, the DF300B has been engineered to run on 87 octane fuel. These are exciting engines and I put a 50,000 deposit down on getting 2 300s with a 25 inch shaft back in June for my new build. My hull is ready to go and has been sitting in a warehouse since September. Still do not have the engines or any communication from Suzuki as to when they will arrive. Rumor has it Suzuki hasn't produced any of these since the Summertime and with the chip shortage and port/delivery issues we won't see any for 6 to 12 months and the ones coming in 6 months are all spoken for. Volvo has duo prop engines available. We might have to cancel the Suzuki's if we don't get any some communication soon. Sad times, the world is a mess right now, but some updates and transparency would at least be helpful.

Counter rotating prop bad ass does it gain any more horse power??

HP has everything to do with the motor not the props . The counter rotation would improve efficiency and speed . The motor would not have to work as hard and would .most likely have a longer life .

They are so great that their lower units have major problems with the 350s, which leak, causing corrosion in the powerhead that Suzuki will not warranty !!! been there done that never again
