hey Travis can you explain the morning weigh in ? I didn't get it audio wasn't so clear thanks great vid!
@aqiria3 жыл бұрын
The evening before the competition every one weighs in and has to make the limit of the category, but the next morning (day of the competition) 4 random judokas are picked to weigh in again, and they are allowed to be 5% over the limit of their respective weight class (For example, for -100 kg judokas, they have to make 100 kg night before the competition, but can be 105 for the morning weigh ins).

There is the official weigh in the night before, where you have to make the weight category. There are also a few random weight checks the day of the event, where you cannot be more than 5% above your weight class. So, for the -100 kg, you cannot weigh more than 105 kg at the random weigh in the day of the event.

Some great battles here! Do you think Fonseca would have had a better chance if he didn't injure his hand/thumb? Or was he just outclassed by the Korean?

In Judo at this highest level of competition, everyone has some level of injury at that point.
