Yes, a commercial van is suitable for a diesel powertrain only.

It's not new, it's a facelift but vw is marketing this lift as a new model..

VW aren't marketing it as new, they've kept the same successful platform so tradies can transfer expensive shelving/fittings to their new van at low cost. The early 2000's platform was very good, the changes are underneath.

It's not an all-new model, but it's a significant facelift. It has the obvious new styling but also updated engines, revised suspension, new powersteering, and a complete new electrical architecture. The only thing that's really the same is the metal bodywork.
