The thing I'm wondering about is that if the car turns on and off just by sensor in the driver's seat, does the car turn off when the driver gets out? I run a lot of errands with someone in the passenger seat who waits in the car and listens to music etc while I'm running into the store, post office, etc. If the car turns off whenever I get out that would be really annoying for the passenger...is there a way to keep the vehicle on for the passenger when the driver gets out?

Man, i’m not sure if it’s the XC 40 or this trim level but the interior of this vehicle looks so cheap besides the infotainment and gauge cluster area. And what’s going on with that key fob? I’ve never seen so much black plastic lol. Great review as always!
@g1981c4 жыл бұрын
most EVs have cheap interiors because all the budget is blown on the battery. it's the same whether you get a Tesla Model 3 / Y or VW ID.3 / ID.4 and so on. an average car sells for about $35,000 in US. the replacement battery pack for Audi E-Tron is by itself $35,000. when manufacturers try to get EVs down to affordable price range interior quality is the first thing to go out the window. this is why i would personally advise to wait another 2 or 3 years before getting an EV - there is an avalanche of new EVs coming in the next 2 years. if you want a car with a plug right now Volvo makes good plug-in hybrids.
@ImYoutubing2474 жыл бұрын
@@g1981c I kinda figured that’s for the insight. Merry Christmas
@KaneTheMessiah4 жыл бұрын
It's the same for the ICE XC40 series as well but as you go up in the series, XC60 and XC90, the interior and even keyfob quality increases drastically. So it's compromise for having a cheaper car where the ICE base trime starts around 28K (46K as BEV) compared to the XC60 that starts around 40K.
@g1981c4 жыл бұрын
@@KaneTheMessiah right so you get interior quality a class lower than the price you're paying.
@hdtvkeith16043 жыл бұрын
Sadly it is a little cheep and it is the same exact interior as the ICE XC40. Volvo cut several thing to the bone to keep costs down, but the P8 is still too pricey considering the range. VW ID.4 with AWD will likely have 20-30 miles more range and basically all the same features except for 360 camera.

Volvo is killing it right now but to be honest with you i'd rather have the Polestar 2 which i believe shares the platform with this XC40 P8 ...
@XLoaferY4 жыл бұрын
agree. The polestar 2 is a better car if you don't want/need the size/form factor of the xc40. Sedan/Crossover is more aerodynamic and makes more sense.

Well done Mike! VERY COMPREHENSIVE review. 👍🏻. I’m in the market for a fully electric vehicle. Tesla IS OUT for me. It will be between Volvo and Audi. Of course the Audi Sportback eTron is more luxurious so ... 😉. I hope you can get your hands on the Audi Etron sportback and do a similar comprehensive review.

Why don't you like Tesla with all those available charging stations?
@robyoungquist58033 жыл бұрын
@@vinceballou4630 … I’m after a luxury EV which Tesla is NOT. Besides, I will have a charge port installed in my garage. People are so overly concerned about driving range. The typical driver doesn’t drive 250 miles @ day anyway. I’ve never been one for “road trips” over 2 hours. If it’s over 2 hours, I fly.
