It is a top car, I drive it and my experience is that it is a top car compared to citroën etc. I have tested almost all of them but for me the Vw Caddy maxi DSG was the best. I have had no problem with it so what I do not understand from some reactions. Vw Caddy maxi Top car ;-)

Quiet in the cabin? You must be feckin deaf! You get amplified road noise from the rear and the quaint sound of the fuel sloshing around in the tank, the space in the cab can be improved with a Motexion bulkhead.

Damian Evans yep, I’ve got the bi xenon, it’s a cheap 25w system that has all the power of a couple of flat torches. Also the beam pattern is very poor. Yep it’s been an amazing 3 years and 109,000 miles in my caddy, luckily nothing has gone wrong since the warranty ran out! Just about to order a Connect Limited with all the trimmings to replace it..

He is also an engineer and theoretically DSG’s are great transmissions. It is a shame that they often fail in real world conditions.

@@hedydd2 I have a 140bhp caddy 6 speed and it's not available any more and for that reason I'm not buying a new one as the dsg is just a trouble.that coming from people that have owns dsg boxs.they give enough trouble the way they are

We first bought a Cadi Maxi for our disabled daughter in 2013 and replaced it in 2019 for the same model. Both had the 6 speed automatic, and fuel economy is remarkable ( we get 50mpg on longer runs.) Handling is excellent, trim levels are good and reliability is much better than French equivalents. The only two items in the against section are 1/ wind noise over 50mph and 2/ If you try to make a quick getaway from standstill, the engine dies away. It does this on both, so must be to protect the drive mechanism. Otherwise, very happy.

My VW Caddy had 12 injectors changed and it has only done 57,000 miles. Never again a VW for me. There is no mention of this in the review even though it is common knowledge in the trade. It is this connection with the vow that prevents me to purchase the Ford. Why do the reviews never give honest views? Perhaps because it is sponsored by the manufacturers and those doing the reviews have sold their souls kissing the backside of those paying them to do the review.

No mention of security? Chief among which is the glass rear doors, for this reason, the fact the caddy is £10k more expensive than the same specification Ford Connect when loaded with extras, the Ford has 0% finance, 120bhp/6 speed gearbox, apple car play as standard (I had to pay £250 as an option on my old T6 Transporter), the Ford has a limiter, which I use more than cruise control, heated seats as standard on the highline equivalent trim, as an eco mode which raised my recent regular trip from 52mpg to 58mpg. Everyone else has caught up to VW, their panel strength and paint finishes are no better than competitors. I have owned a dozen or more VWs over the years, but sadly when competitors are two thirds the money, when VW dealers quote £300 to supply and fit a T6 Transporter fan blower resistor you can buy for £12 and takes 10 mins to fit, what can you do but vote with your feet. It seems VAG work for directors bonuses, shareholders, Franchisees and customers in that order of priority.

Air con is a expensive option and Britain is cold anyway. You are not supposed to be looking at navigation screen for more than a quick glance.

I love Edd too, in fact I have stopped watching Wheeler Dealers because it is not the same. My only criticism is that, is someone who is six foot twelve the right person to be testing vehicles ? He looks cramped.

Love the Caddy, but commercial vehicle manufacturers need to up their game considerably. For example, look where that satnav is! If they’re going to offer it, it needs to be somewhere you can see it.

I really like the caddy. Back in 2011, I bought a comfortline 1.6Tdi with 5 gears and 102hp. I have never missed any more power. I am using the van for family, as a camper, even for towing midsize caravans (1500kg) down to croatia and the south of spain. On the german motorway it runs up to 190km/h. Driving is as comfortable as a Golf. If you are ok with the image of the van, you will not get a better car for the money.

I have this colour caddy but with the smaller mirrors. a 1.4tsi 7speed dsg, swb, highline and the 17inch alloys. basically everything but leather seats i added to the van. the only issue I have had with it is the cup holders are huge and even a pint glass would fall over

You look crammed into that van like a whale in a sardine can. Less particulates from the petrol engine? Really? Modern direct injection petrol engines also need particulate filters these days [GPF] and have the same particulate emission official limits. Even the NOx emissions, which is what is really of concern in towns, is very low indeed on modern diesel engines. That is if we can finally trust VW not to cheat on the emission and economy tests. Their history is not one to instil much confidence on that score.
