To me it seems like every other high level player has been nothing but curtious towards him. Not saying you're wrong, mate. It would have to suck to face Carlsen in his current shape. In long stretches he plays supercomputer-like and in many cases plays a game above what the simulators have to offer. Crazy.

you should do a video where you work with an intermediate player that has the basics, do a crash course on an opening you don't offer (as that would probably lose you money) maybe have them do like before and after games. Might be a good advertisement for your courses and would be awesome content. depending on the time frame you can definitely have the video be under an hr and probably get good retention with a narrative. I imagine your content doesn't get demonetized often, and longer content means more ads, and profit for you. (might be bad at math which made me leave marketing to poly sci, but I can have good ideas lol) also have been loving your d4 course, which has made my masters massively more bearable working through the "London".

Believe me when I tell you, unless you are to the point where you want to learn an opening to play in tournaments when you just need a draw, you don't want to play the petroff defense. It's literally just black coming straight out the gate going, "draw?" If you're dead set though, if white takes your pawn, don't take his pawn back. That's a huge blunder because of Qe2.

Im tired of reading comments making fun of Nepo saying he is a weak contender and that other GMs like Fabi/Ding would have been a better pick. FYI, Nepo won the candidates tournament consisting 7 other top SUPER GMs (yes, including Fabi/Ding) and had to beat ALL OF THEM to qualify. If anything, it doesn't show how weak Nepo is but instead shows how good Magnus is at this game and how well deserving he is of having the world champion title. So keep the comments to yourself if you have no idea what you're talking about.

These tournament and World champs recaps are great, especially with all the explanation. I'm a little disappointed that there's not much low rated content anymore like pogchamps or sub battles. This whole match shows why Grandmasters go for safe draws so much. Taking risks at the GM level backfires horribly, and the amount of energy that it takes to execute a decent risk is mentally draining. I think that after this match, GMs will strongly go back to safe draws, especially considering how much bad press was thrown at Nepo.

I believe Magness thought knight to d3 would give him the best winning chances, so he was actually playing for a win. He was probably hoping for a complex middle game/endgame without the queens. As he is the absolute master of these types of positions , he thought this would be his best chance for a win.

Played chess with dad 50+ years ago. What a kind-hearted man he was! Now I'm old and in the way and would NEVER even try the game again, but I'm taking advantage of the mental gymnastics. Good for receding brain power. Would love it even more if there was slow-mo! :)))))

Trailing 9.5 to 6.5 in the 1986 World Chess Championship, Anatoly Karpov reeled off three straight wins against defending champion Garry Kasparov to tie the match. Kasparov ended up winning the match anyway, but it does show that three consecutive wins by the challenger is at least possible, if very, very unlikely.
