I would really like to see how each of the bikes Zach rides are as a "weekend warrior" bike. Ari could take them out to a track and/or mountain twistys and ride them at a higher pace, showing a separate leader board for how they stack up in those situations.

I have a 2020 MT07. I put taller final drive gears on it. That turned it into a great bike for longer rides and improved the mileage. I also put a full exhaust system on it. Big difference in the sound. Also a Corbin seat and small windscreen. I have done up to 400 miles in a day without feeling beat up. This bike can be anything you want it to be. Great platform for customizing.

@@daveinwla6360 The throttle thing is not really a big deal to me. Can it be improved? Yes. But I rode bikes with carbs on them most of my life. The MT07 is a great bike. After you ride one the throttle issue is a wash, it would not stop me from buying one. That is for sure.

I rode until now 92.000 km on a 2015 yellow one. The engine is one of the best of the last 20 years for sure. I use it for daily commuting and for far journeys through Europe. This light bike, driven by a experienced rider, has no enemies on the passes of the alpes. Lesser is sometimes more.

@@ohanaross-roberts97 There are a couple of reasons. Firstly, we are poor(er). I know some people whose their bike is literally the only possession they have. They live and die on it. Secondly, it's quite unnecessary here. Our law forbid motorcycles from entering the highway, and speed limits outside of highways is 70km/h maximum, which means anything 110cc and above would suffice. Most people here ride to work, school on the daily, and they need something cheap, light and durable. They don't need fun. Bigger bikes are simply way too expensive and inefficient for the purpose. That is to say, there are people who ride big cc bikes, but they account for like 1% of bikes on the road and they are mostly already die hard motorcycle enthusiasts or police officers.
@thangluongquang2826
@thangluongquang2826 3 жыл бұрын
Oh, and especially in my country in order to legally ride anything bigger than 175cc, you'll need to have a special license called the A2 license. It's both harder and more expensive to acquire than the A1 license most people have. So even motorcycle fans sometimes choose smaller bikes just because they don't want to go through all that hassle.

Guys if you are having Jerky throttle issues with any year of MT07 / FZ07 get the G2 Street Tamer throttle tube. If you feel that the front forks are too soft in a corner, swap your fork oil to 15 weight fork oil I promise you those two mods only cost $100 total shipped, but they will make your bike feel immensely better.

As a former moto-journo (Cycle Guide, 1980s) I feel like you've perfected this gig :) You record pretty much what was going through our heads while we rode around the greater LA area on Vmax/Ninja/FZs/Magnas/Goldwings/HD/etc/etc. But there we were, suffering a pre-GoPro world, hoping we'd remember our most brilliant quips and insights long enough to keystroke them. Rode a 2017/FZ-07 around The The Big Island of Hawaii for several years. Buy what you want, of course, but unless you make a living off motorcycles, light your cigars with $100/bills or live next to a track this thing is perfect. I keep forgetting that I've never actually been on a motorcycle and the chances of me even thinking the suspensions bad, or that the brakes suck, or that it's underpowered in any way are SO low. I'm gonna be hopping on one of these going straight from a 20 year old Toyota camry. Like, this thing's gonna feel like face melting speed

Got mine almost 3 years ago, moved from Pedro to the rural PNW and still love it. Handles well on the curvy 2 lane mountain highways, and with no cities or traffic I'm averageing 59.1 mpg :) *I'd probably get more milage but with few troopers and long empty stretches I can't help but enjoy the speed.

Hey Zack, I love your reviews so much they've become sort of a measuring stick for motorcycle reviews for me, so I can't help comparing others' reviews to yours and noticing how others fall short. Just so fun to watch and feel your zest for riding as you do it. They are also fairly comprehensive. I'd like to see more of them. In particular, I'm interested in middle displacement naked bikes as a noob. Thanks, looking forward for more 👍 Keep it up!

I totally agree on going to taller gearing on certain bikes. I'm two decades behind on what I can afford so I went from 15/38 on my '02 CB750 Nighthawk to a taller 16/36. Went from 4,500rpm at an indicated 65 mph down to 3,900. And up to 75mph at 4,500rpm with taller gearing. The manufacturers are competing for 0-60. I'd rather have a useful 2nd gear in the corners. And a more relaxed engine speed on the highway.

Great review! I'd love an SP version of this. I don't want/need MT-09 power but I'd be willing to pay for better brakes/suspension. I also trust Yamaha reliability more than Aprilia (aka Tuono 660 as an alternative).
@sleeper.simulant7327

If you want better brakes and suspension just get the Honda CB650R. Real world cost, not MSRP, at my local dealers it’s only like $800-$1000 more then a MT07, and you get massive Nissin brakes, even bigger then MT09’s, Showa suspension, and a silky smooth inline 4 that packs 20 more hp then a MT07. Power wise it sits directly in between the MT07 (20 more then that) and MT09 (20 less then that), it’s just a nicer bike with a higher quality feel of fit and finish, and timeless styling. Yamaha builds a good engine, but then they put cheap components around it...

Thank you for the review. Even though you've got the cross country champ as the number one daily rider, I still, very much, trust your opinion. The new mt07 is the bike I'm looking at for my next new purchase. Demo days don't give enough impression of a bike. And, for some reason, people want insane money for their used fz/mt 07's. As in, the same price as these updated models. Anywho, awesome review.

I like that dash/key arrangement... different but that low profile dash looks sharp. Leaderboard is super subjective... but if it's about fun per dollar spent I can't argue with it's placement (can buy more than 3 of these for the price of one Streetfighter V4s, and then there's maintenance cost). Would I rather have a the SF or Street Triple - well yea - but if I'm no a tight budget I'm not going to lose sleep over buying this instead.

I think a MT07 SP would make a lot of sense because it certainly would not take $3k to get the suspension and brakes up to snuff. Suspension valving, spring rate choices and fluid viscosity are no cost upgrades for the manufacturer. Parts bin brake upgrades would cost next to nothing. Then you would have an indisputable SV beater and a clearly better value then the Aprilia with next to no sacrifice on the performance side of things.
